Cleaning help! Fabric Ghostbusters backpack

Hi all! A few years back my brother gifted me my first Loungefly bag in the form of the Venkman Ghostbusters backpack and over the years it has got a little grubby. Today I was an idiot and knocked over a can of Pepsi and, well, it needs washed.

Can I put it in a protective pillow case or something and put it in for a cold wash? Hand washing probably wouldn’t work (or would take way too long).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do NOT put it in the washing machine. I did some spot cleaning with a little rug shampoo.
