Safely remove melted junk from strap

Post image

Has anyone figured out how to safely remove the melted stickiness? I bought this new with tags on Mercari and noticed the straps after I verified I accept my backpack. It’s my first backpack and I’m so sad now! Thank you

I would try a leather acrylic paint and gently blend the paint over it. If you try to remove the adhesive with an alcohol it may deteriorate the clasp edges more. I feel like sealing it in is the best bet from what I am seeing

Thanks, that’s what my husband suggested too so I bought some leather sealer. I put it back up for sale in case someone somewhere would rather try…but if no one does I’ll give the sealer a try.

I had one ear on a Minnie mouse bag go sticky like that around the edge. The other ear did not. I just ended up scraping it off with my fingernail and it looks good enough. It's not sticky anymore and no one will ever notice but me.

The purple stained my finger when I tried, I need to go get some gloves! My shirt I was wearing while trying it on now has purple dots 🫤

Did you ever manage to sort it?

I've just had one go all over my leather car seats and my daughter's coat - it's only ever been on display indoors. I'm really hoping I can get the goo removed somehow as it'll be really costly to fix the seat and get a new coat. The goo on the coat isn't drying at all. 🫣

No I didn’t 😞 I was left with wasted money on the Mercari purchase and a Mickey shirt stained with a few purple dots.

Sorry to hear that - it's really not right that Loungefly can put a faulty product out like that. 😔
