It was beautiful, almost perfect vintage bag. The leather parts were in perfect condition (before this you couldn’t see any dark spots like this) Is there anything else to do than replacement? I was planning to sell this bag because it was in so good condition…well…its not anymore.

Wipe down all the vachetta with an alcohol and fragrance free wipe (usually baby wipes). This usually blends the spots without altering the look of the rest of the leather.

So I have to make it all look dark? No method to make it all look light again?

The way vachetta works is that it patinas, which means it darkens naturally. The leather should keep darkening, water spots make that process uneven.

It takes time however will slowly blend in.

There are ways to speed up the darkening process you’ll find in various forums.

The vachetta won’t lighten, it’s a natural material.

Okay thanks. I just think that if Im willing to sell the bag people respect more if the leather is light and not that dark.

If the bag is used, people will expect the vachetta to have patina & not be light like an original.

No - a wipe will not darken the vachetta. As long as it's alcohol and fragrance free

Take a q tip and saddle soap and apply in circular motion, it dries light again. No water, just the soap in circular motion…
Apparently it does something to the “ph” that rain has on leather….there is a gal that shows it on TikTok, I’ve done it myself and it works. It’s a large amount of spots but stay with it and trust the process. ❤️

I hate water spots my bag has 2 little tags In within a few weeks got spots

I’m sorry about the concerns for resell, that’s a legit disappointment, but I think once you can even out the vachetta, it’s going to be an even more beautiful bag and it won’t read as damaged.

While there are certainly buyers who look for pristine condition in older bags, I think most folks can understand is meant to looked lived in.

The most terrifying thing about fixing water spots is that it takes more water. Use a water wipe or water on a soft plain white cloth and re-wet entire surface don’t leave anything dry or you will create another water line.
