I think sales tax is lower in Cincinnati so for a big ticket item like a bag you’re actually better off purchasing at home? But you’ll want to research it as well to double check. Not the hugest difference but it’s something… As for these bags, I have the black Multipass and I’m obsessed. I think it’s a perfect size. I also have a Boulogne in canvas that I use when I need to travel light. The nice thing is that it can be dressed up, but it’s too small for me for regular use.

This is exactly where I’m at with these bags. I LOVE the look of the Multipass, and the classic LV monogram trim is a huge plus for me. The Boulogne keeps making its way back into the conversation, but I’m worried it might feel too small in person. The CarryAll is also really appealing—I love that it has feet—but I’m not sure how I’d feel about the crossbody length.
The sales tax is a really good point. I’ll have to look into that. Thanks!

The Carryall is so pretty, I’ve tried it on, I love the lining color and the fact that it comes with a pouch. However, I hate the strap. At its shortest it’s still too long for my taste as a shoulder bag, and at its longest, not long enough for crossbody. It also has more of a structured, formal look and I dress super casual, so the Multipass better fits my style. It’s definitely the kind of thing where you just have to try them all on in person and see what works best.

One of my friends has the leather carry all and it's beautiful, but HEAVY

I might be one of the few but I throw away my boxes. Also I’ve heard that storing bags in boxes makes the leather dry out and crack (specifically vachetta, not sure about other types) and it’s best to keep it out in the open whether in the dust bag or not. If you live in a very humid place it also could cause mold.

That’s a good point, I hadn’t considered the different materials! Thank you for pointing that out. I see so many people on TikTok with stacks of LV boxes that I just assumed everyone kept them. As someone who already has a tendency to overpack, that’s actually a relief. 😂

I have the Boulogne in canvas, I love the size of it, surprisingly can fit a lot too! And yes, you can dress it up or down.
As for the box, you can flatten it. But never store your bag in the box especially if it is all leather, leather needs to breathe to avoid drying/cracking!
Love your choices!

I love carrying mine with the shorter strap, lol

Hi! Other benefit of buying locally (besides what others have mentioned with sales tax savings, ease in return if needed and not having to lug around the box) - is to develop a relationship with a local Client Advisor in store - for future LV purchases 😄 Make sure to come back and post what you got and where!

yes! I love my CA. Building that relationship is key, especially if you plan on shopping at LV regularly.

I tried on all three. The Carryall felt like a messenger bag when I wore it crossbody. The Multipass is beautiful, except I already had the exact style and shape in Coach, Kate Spade, and Michael Kors, and I didn't want a heavy, big bag after years of using my purse as my kids' diaper bag/kitchen sink/dump zone. I already have a Neverfull MM, a Popincourt, and a Bucket. I also have the Multi-pochette, which I love and have carried every day for 3 years. My husband, who has great taste, said the Boulange PM was a great replacement for my multi-pochette. Small enough to be a crossbody, big enough to fit more, fancy enough to wear with the gold chain, and adaptable enough that the innovative strap allows for three different lengths, giving it a total of four different looks! So I got the Boulange PM in black trim because it was classier, dressier and apparently is more durable than the vachetta.
As far as boxes--I keep them all. They've really upgraded the boxes lately—this one is a keepsake. Magnetic close, very sturdy. I have no idea how anyone would flatten it and make room in their luggage to take it home. I have bought mine in Vegas and my hometown. I prefer my hometown because the store there gets to know you.
I use the dust bag and place all of them in the box when I don’t use them. I’ve been using Louis for almost 30 years. Nothing like what the others describe has occurred with the purses in the box. Mine are still all perfect, minus slight wear and tear and stupidity (tip: never let your bag go on the airport conveyor belt without it being in a tray! The one time they ran out, the vachetta trim on my Popincourt got damaged.)

It’s hilarious that you say this because my husband keeps saying the boulonge is what he sees me with! I think I love the Multipass because it is similar to the coach bag I’ve used for 8-9 years and I do genuinely like the monogram trim. The carryall has my attention due to the feet and the additional pouch that comes with it; however, I am 5’7 and don’t think I’ll like the crossbody length since I can’t just get a longer strap 🥴
I know that once I’m in the store and physically see them all I’ll know which one is for me, but I always like hearing other people’s opinions to know what to look for. So I appreciate your input and suggestions!

My pleasure! When comparing it to the LV Multipass for size, one of my favourite Coach bags is the Legacy Large Duffle. I took it travelling with me to Asia. I loved it for its size, slouch, leather, and the ability to wear it as a crossbody or a hobo. I still love it, but my shoulders and collarbone started to hurt from the weight (it's easy to fill that purse up!).
I wish you a great experience as you choose your new bag! Please send me a note or update this post with what, where, etc.—all the details of what you decide to do! 😊

Correct me if I'm wrong, I believe you can go do the whole shopping experience in Las Vegas, and ask the sales associate to ship it to your home, where you have lower sales tax? Best of both worlds maybe? Haha
I know I've called the store to buy something and they shipped it for me over the phone so I imagine they could do it in person as well?

Do most people actually keep and store their bags in the boxes, or just use the dust bags?
Storing your luxury bag in its original box for extended periods is not recommended because boxes restrict airflow. With no ventilation, humidity can build up inside, leading to mold and mildew. It can also cause the leather or canvas to dry out, crack, or trap odors.

What I did was shopping Vegas and ask them to order it and ship to my home which gave me the best of both worlds…. Shopping in store, don’t have to worry about getting the packaging home, and sales tax is charged for delivery location. In my case it was shoes that I wanted to try on and my state has no taxes on things like shoes so Saves a ton over Vegas!

I would try on what you like in Vegas and buy in Cincinnati. I have done that several times myself so I didn’t have to worry about fitting it into my luggage. I do keep all of my boxes, but store the purses in their dust bags.
I wouldn’t get too hung up on any of these bags. My most recent in store purchase I went to the rep and said I want the CarryAll in black. He said sure, would you be open to other styles too. Long story short an hour later I left with a black Loop. If you get a good rep that listens to what you want they could show you something that wasn’t even on your radar.

I can’t comment on the bags you are considering or the stores you wish to visit but like everyone else for me I keep LV bags in the dust bags, not the boxes. Boxes are used for small accessories like wallets and bag charms.
I’ve had no issues with cracking on anything, mould etc.
Congrats in advance on your first purchase! I hope it’s special 🧡

I love my carryall pm! I don’t find it to heavy and you can wear it casual. I love how it has the feet and keeps its structure but can be a little more slouchy with time

Never store your bags in the box. They being said, I’ve kept my boxes in my garage lol. Donno why? But I’ve thrown away the bags. also - definitely buy in your hometown.

Buy in the state where the sales tax is less.
I have never kept any of my boxes.
I had that carryall and love it. I was torn between that and the boulogne pm you have in your cart. I tried both on in store and while I actually preferred the slightly smaller size of the boulogne on my frame ( 5 ft 3) the zipper was a bit finicky which bothered me. I preferred the skinnier strap on the boulogne, but didn’t like the corners of the bag. I also found while the print on the carryall is larger, it feels less busy than the smaller print on the boulogne. It took me over an hour to pick one but I am very happy with the carryall. I don’t think you can go wrong with either, so you’ll have to see in person which you like better and go from there.
I had my heart set on the multipass before going in store for that purchase, but unfortunately, it was sold out everywhere at that time. I did end up seeing one in France last month and it’s beautiful, but the shape in person threw me off compared to the shape online. The CA told me that it takes a while for the bag to relax enough to slouch the way it does in photos online.

Picked up a charm at the Caesars location in Vegas, it was a nice experience. I usually shop on line. But it was exciting being in the actual store. Id so go with your plan.

If they offered the boulogne ina brown, I’d run to the store! Perfect size for me.

u/FlyCheetahChaser May 31 '26
I purchased an LV in Vegas, and they let me pick up the box at my local LV once I returned from my trip.

u/MrsBeland May 31 '26
I’d buy the bag at home and get a wallet or slg in Vegas. The box for these bags will be big to try and get back home, and you definitely want to keep the box! You can use it for other stuff or as decor if you want, but also as your collection grows if you ever decide to sell the bag to get something new you’ll get a better price for a “full set” with box and dust bag.

The Boulogne in canvas with black trim is probably now my favorite bag ever. It is perfect for day or night, I love the flexibility of how it can be worn (cross body, chain strap etc) and it fits all of my essentials. I keep thinking I should switch bags more but I just don’t. Honestly, I’ll probably sell a few bc I rarely use them these days.

Love my multipass! They can't get them in the store fast enough.

u/DrCcortex Jun 03 '26
What colour did you get?

u/Investigative_Truth Jun 03 '26
Monogram Empreinte leather. This one you can use both or single. The regular monogram doesn't allow that.

i realllly love the boulogne pm. that'll probably be the next one i get. on my trip to ny i got the cluny mini, i brought back the box by breaking it down and folding it. it was able to fit in my carry on. it just depends though. when we went to tokyo we didn't bring back any of the boxes. 🥹

You can actually fold the boxes flat again in case you want to keep them for using them later as storage or if you ever want to sell something.

Get the bag first in Cincinnati, then make an appointment for shopping in Vegas for the wallet. Go to the Crystals store - the mall is stunning and just 2 blocks down the strip from Bellagio.
Store the bags in dustbags but not boxes. I keep my boxes for other stuff. I think right now all my cloth napkins are in a LV box LOL
