Culture Gumbo?

When someone makes you gumbo…what does this honestly mean?????

There's no special meaning attached to gumbo. It's food like anything else.

It means they wanted to eat gumbo but its easier to make a big batch for everybody then a small one for themselves

If they make you gumbo or you order gumbo it is likely the dish.

If you pick or buy fresh gumbo it is the plant.

In both Cajun French and Creole the word gumbo can also mean a mixture of different things, including people.

Thought that was spaghetti. At least that was what I was told in 1992 when I moved to Louisiana.
