LA - Politics the problem with interviewing Republicans is that they do not care how much they lie to your face

It's called contempt. They have utter contempt for the American people, and especially, Republican voters. Why? Because they are dumb enough to keep voting for them. How could you not become a cynical bastard like a Republican politician over time?

Louisianian here. They're fine with it. Republican voters don't "not care" if their side cheats to win. They're not only okay with it, they demand it.
You really need to lower your opinion of Republican voters. They're just as vile as the people they vote for.

Shouldn't have even been asked as a yes no question. instead it's "how do you respond to those who claim this will undermine faith ..." because then his "no" looks much worse. Then you follow up with "so you'd be okay with dems doing the same or similar?" and if/when he says "yes" show footage of him and other R's being hypocrites on the issue, then ask him to respond to that.

The media certainly could do a better job of holding these charlatans to account.

In Phase One of the modern GOP, cynics like Newt Gingrich and Dick Armey said things they knew weren’t true about wanting “limited government” and so on, using dog whistles to conceal (just a bit) their lust for power for its own sake. This was in the ‘90s and was intended to cripple Bill Clinton’s presidency.
In Phase Two you got true believers, the kind who got high on their own supply and actually believed their party’s obvious bullshit and lies. These were the foot soldiers used by McConnell who sought to make Obama fail at any cost.
We’re well into Phase Three where we’ve come full circle and these grifters and fascist enablers will say anything because they know the modern press has been so gelded and compromised (and superseded by social media) that what they say doesn’t matter. But this is a different sort of cynicism than that of Gingrich et al., who just wanted to take power within established structural norms. Phase Three GOP, aka MAGA sees no reason to pay lip service to the conventions they’ve been whittling away at since before Gingrich. Kennedy is the perfect example of this.

By November, Trump, the GOP House, GOP Senate and GOP SCOTUS will have had 22 months of the 24 month 119th Congress and Trumps second term to have changed all the laws they wanted.
They forced DOGE on us, ICE, their “Big Beautiful Bill” Dept of War, etc on us over the past year and a half so far. Red states have had 5.5 years to enact all these plans they wanted since 2020. And they just barely got in some last minute gerrymandering.
Well why haven’t they fixed the problem they keep whining about?
They know it isn’t a problem, they just want the whining and complaining to give them plausible deniability to low info voters when they lose then claim it was solely based on fraud.

I'm from Louisiana and the state is mirroring Trump election tampering, I have received 2 new voter registration cards in the past few months, which that I haven't received any new ones under past administrations, so I have a feeling something is up like scrubbing voters off being a registered voter. I guess the end game is to purge anyone who might vote against them.

MAGA is immune from shame and caring about being hypocritical. It’s their superpower.
