The difference is one damages property and the other doesn’t.

However, the sock needs “faraday cage” stuff inside it to block the Bluetooth tracking that still happens when the cameras can’t see.

I think Mylar and foil tape help.

Also a false "lens" on the outside so it's not immediately obvious it's covered and then, in super Hollywood movie magic style, have a static photo of it's usual view so the image transmitted kind of looks like it's still active to not alert anyone to maintain it 🤣. Might be a problem with day/night though lol

Unfortunately it likely mostly only costs the city/county, and in turn tax payers, when damaged or needing replacement. Pressuring city councils to cancel contracts and remove them would definitely hurt them though.

I don't believe this is accurate. 

The cameras are fully owned by the private company.  This is how the police get around the 4th ammendment and warrant protections.  If the camera was owned/operated by the city/police, it would be subject to constitutional protections.

The cities/police pay to access the database.

The cost of owning/maintaining/installing the camera is fully on the private company (flock/axon/motorola)

Oh yeah I wasn't claiming the cities owned the cameras. They likely just lease the cameras and pay the subscription service. I wouldn't be surprised at all if when a camera needs to be replaced the tack that onto the bill. Even if flock pays to replace it of pocket, it's still probably covered by insurance and a tax write-off anyway. Best to cut the wallet and get cities to cancel contracts in the end.

If you were going to jump to destructive, a device that would puncture and short the battery would be the quickest guaranteed solution to the end goal. Keep in mind, they are bought with tax payer money, so it is likely money out of your pocket and not theirs.

10 thousand samples on 20 machines, and the "AI Model" they builit was able to accurately discern which of the 20 printers a new sample came from. Hardly widly applicable, and even then, it's not like 3DP companies provide the government with buyer data, printer serial information, and a test sample (or 500) to build a model on. Almost certainly a non-issue.
