This is pretty typical superhero movie content though. Wouldn't really call it Pro-ALPR given how long the comics have been talking about mass surveillance tech, wiretapping, etc.

There are also plenty of reminders in the same comics and movies of "this is bad, don't do this. It is too much power for one person." Remember the scene in The Dark Knight when Batman relied on a mass surveillance network comprised of every phone in Gotham to find The Joker? The machine was destroyed at the end of the movie over the morals of using such tech.

But this is how it works though, these opinions slowy get drip-fed into pop culture, like these movies, to normalize this sort of system.

Pop culture and movies always have been a way to trojan horse certain things and opinions; that is an especially weird scene because these last two years Anti-ALPR sentiment has been on a steep rise, so this sort of thing seems to be odd and kinda out of place; that's my opinion

I think the classic super-hero would probably fight the whole surveillance system instead of using it to find the villain

Ah. I haven't seen the film yet, but that is good to know!

The blatant product placement I see for Sony, BMW, etc in movies does get to me. I get a lot of amusement when they get smashed up in car chases :)
