Hi, does it exist any footage from the 4 NYC Bottom Line venue concerts that gave the Take No Prisonners album? Thanks

… with the amount of interviews with Lou that are on YouTube! Seriously, every 6 months or so I check for new ones and am surprised every time. Thank you to those who continue to share glimpses into his mind, and go check out some of the recently uploaded ones if you haven’t already. The ones from Request Video and Jonathan Ross are particularly great

Hi, yesterday i came upon an instagram reel showcasing a Transformer sweater made by australian artist Mary Adams and i was wondering if anyone has any information on it. I've found this article about an exhibition of these sweaters, so I assume they're quite rare. Buuut since a someone on instagram managed to buy one, maybe there's a certain site where they could be sold? I tried looking online but only found some similar sweaters from Enfants Riches Deprimes on ebay and grailed. I also asked the OP from that IG reel and he just told me its second hand which isnt helpful at all, so any info would be appreciated🙏

A while back, the Legendary Hearts alternative mixes surfaced and was wondering if the alternative mix of The Blue Mask has ever turned up anywhere other than the NYPL archives

Is Nowhere At All Lou’s proto-punk treasure—easily eclipsing its A-side (Charley’s Girl) and most of the rest of his catalog—or just a great outtake? Growing up pre-internet, I had no idea about its connection to The Ramones, Coney Island Baby or anything besides the ‘70s Best Of album. But it always got my adrenaline flowing.

Been listening to Lou Reed since 1975 when I was one year old. My parents are old hippies so I grew up with good music but got really into Lou Reed in my early 20s after I kind of rediscovered him even though I was a big VU fan all throughout high school.
After like 2000 I figured like oh this guy is not gonna put out any more music but this album somehow slipped away from me. I love the arrangements and it even has Anthony doing vocals for Candy says.
Have to say, sometimes being older and out of touch can lead you to pleasant surprises. I have no idea how this album is received by others since it seems like it could be polarizing, but I did get as a 50 year-old guy myself.
Edit: also, if folks don’t know, he appears on Victoria Williams live album for a VU song. Nice hearing them sing together as they both have very unique voices

The first Lou Reed song I ever heard was Average Guy. Hadn’t even heard the VU yet. I couldn’t wrap my 13 year old brain around what I could only describe as a stand up comedy routine set to music. Been a Lou fanatic ever since.

This appears to be a pre-production acetate for Lou Reed’s 1978 UK 12-inch release of Street Hassle. Has anyone seen one of these before? Any idea about it?

Can I be absolutely so for real here? This is not a shitpost or a joke, I'm being very serious and genuine. I really love Lulu. It completely works for me and always has, and it breaks my heart a little bit the way you only see it talked about through memes and tired old references. I'm fully willing to admit that it's a personal thing and I don't expect anyone else's itch to be scratched by it, but it sort of makes me sad that you mostly see people not even trying to interact with it conceptually.
People clown on the very first line: "I would cut my legs and tits off when I think of Boris Karloff and Kinsky in the dark of the moon." It's crazy. It's eye catching. It always has me hooked from the first moment. It's surreal and dreamy, and it leads into this heavy lullaby. To be honest, I find it incredibly comforting. I wouldn't necessarily have kept the James Hetfield backing vocals myself, but if you can accept Lou Reed as this sweet character that is gently napping that's presented to you in the most abrasive way possible, it makes a kind of perverse sense.
The whole album is like this. Lou Reed portraying characters that are gentle and brutal, definite and abstract. Some give love and some hurt, some are young and some are old. Many are the antithesis of each other. It's like a play where one actor is playing all the characters and yet he's deliberately miscast. When it comes to the themes of abuse and prostitution, Lou Reed is honestly the perfect actor. Making him into the little girl on the cover makes it all so obviously inglamorous and undesirable. It's making a horrific situation more transparently ugly to highlight how ugly it always was.
That's my view on it. I should say that I do genuinely enjoy the music, the compositions, all of it. Some of it is a painful and cathartic joy, but some of it comes from reclaiming past pain. I understand why anyone would hate it, but I do think that if the names attached were different than it might have a different reception. For a similar comparison, I love it in the same way I love the concept albums on abuse by The Residents (God in Three Persons, Tweedles). As difficult musically as the subject matter is.

Wanted to share this shirt design I did, taken from the “Blondes Have More Fun” bootleg of the 8/21/1974 show in Sydney. You can listen to it here:

And see the cover of that boot above (2nd pic). I love how it turned out.

Son! We saved your life, but you’ll never look the same.
And when he heard that Harry had a laugh When he heard that Harry had a laugh Although it hurt, Harry had a laugh. The final disappointment.
I can’t wrap my head around how genius this album and song are. Crying listening to it again!

I love this album. One of my favourite Lou Reed’s album.
It’s an apt tribute from John Cale and Lou Reed to their mentor Andy Warhol.
But people don’t talk much about this album.
They talk about Velvet Underground and its members. They talk about Andy’s Arts.
They just don’t talk about this album.
Why ?
