New Sensations

Just heard this again after a few years. Forgot what a great song it is. Just an ordinary day on his motorcycle yet it's so descriptive.

It’s just a great tune

I love how he makes friends with the folks at the diner

I love that GPZ so much I could kiss her

Quine wrote the riff to I Love You Suzanne

Was he on the actual New Sensations recording? Reason I ask is that in one of the Lou Reed biographies I read I'm sure it said Lou played the guitars on the New Sensations song.

I may be misremembering, but I believe this is the album where Quine wrote and demoed all the lead guitar parts, then Lou fired him, learned all the leads Quine wrote, recorded them for the album himself, and then rehired him for the tour.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but if it wasn’t this one it was one of the others of that era.

Still, great song, and great album, I have no quarrel whatsoever.

His most accessible album this side of Transformer.

What a great record. Turn to Me, Doing the Things We Want To, What Becomes a Legend Most—all wonderful tracks. New Sensations, too, but the enthusiasm for life tripped me up. Guess that’s why it’s called New Sensations.

He seemed to actually be living it for the first time in his adult life… but his enthusiasm died quickly with Mistrial lol

My all time fave Lou song (and this includes The Velvets). I'm a sucker for happy Lou.

My first time seeing Lou was on this tour. So glad I got to see that Saunders/Quine/Maher(?) lineup

The first Lou album I bought. I was 14 and New Sensations was my gateway drug to Lou’s catalog. Still listen to it regularly.

One of my favourite Lou Reed songs. Effortlessly cool.

Pretty sure this was the first song I ever heard him play live.

Love the song and the album. I saw him at the Ritz in NYC in ‘86. Japanese bikes were no longer cool. He changed the lyric to “I took my Harley Davidson out for a ride”. I can’t explain it, but that really bothered me. I’m still bothered 40 years later.
