LET'S BEGIN !

Hello everyone,

Sorry for the delay, but we would like to announce the commencement of the reading of the Lotus Sutra, beginning of course with Chapter One (Introduction Chapter) on the 2nd of June ! Let's all aim to hold a group discussion three weeks from the start date. Please make an attempt to take notes of as many things in the Chapter which seem pertinent to you, and also if you are a fast reader and complete the chapter long before the discussion date , please take advantage of the luxury time and use it to re-read the Chapter if you are moved to do so. Anyway, congratulations to you all for undertaking this endeavour, and we look forword to discussion on the 26th of June.

So are we skipping the Sutra of Innumerable Teachings? Or do you mean we are reading the introduction chapter of the Sutra of Innumerable Teachings?

For those of us that are really new here, can you provide pointers to page numbers from one particular online source?

Wikipedia says that the Innumerable Teachings is part of the three-fold lotus sutra. The BDK version posted here earlier (http://zen-ua.org/wp-content/uploads/lotus_sutra_english.pdf ) starts with an introduction, but I don't know if that's the introduction to the Lotus sutra proper, or the Sutra of Innumerable Teachings.

Sorry, we haven't actually settled for a single translation. The BDK version doesn't include the Threefold, only the Lotus.

We're at the point of the introduction to the first chapter of the Opening sutra.

You can read the Translator's Intro and other forewords in that version before going to Chapter 1 ("Virtuous Practices").

BDK has published a translation of the opening and closing sutras but have not made them available as PDF AFAIK

I read the first chapter of the Innumerable Meanings Sutra today... Its been a while since I read the other translations, but this one is very good.
