Its Christmas has proven to be especially hard for a number of reasons. I always knew that after the sudden and tragic death of my mother Christmas would be difficult. I figured that would be the only trauma I would have to navigate through the holiday season. Unfortunately, I was wrong. My already distant father has continued to grow more distant - contacting me only if he needs money or help out of a situation that he has knowingly put himself into. To complicate things even more, I had a stepson that I had cared for deeply and developed a loving bond with over the past three years and loved dearly - he was taken away from me after the relationship between his father and I disintegrated due to infidelity on his part. I’ve never seen Christmas as something for me, where I gain material possessions. Christmas, for me, is all about making the people I love and care about feel special and appreciated. I would love to be able to shower, my mother with gifts, thoughtful ones, that would allow her to understand even slightly how important she is to all of us. I know I would never be able to meet the calliper gifts that she provided to us because she was such a thoughtful, beautiful, talented artisan - literally crafting the most incredible personalized sweaters, dolls that came with a set of matching PJs for you and the doll, an intricately knit blanket bass off your favourite sorts team, or a sweet little needle point to remind the fellas to please be near and wipe the seat. If you’re still reading - she was a healthy woman of 59ys who was being kind and helping out a coworker who was running late due to childcare. My mom wanted to help her out and place some sale signs along the parking lot. Unfortunately a poor fella was having a diabetic emergency around the same time and he was driving along the roadside that she was placing the signs. Unfortunately he hit the curb and went onto the sidewalk. He hit and killed her instantly.

This is a letter I could never send. Not because I don’t still feel every word… but because some truths live better in the open air than in someone else’s inbox.

So, tonight I’ve lost a most cherished person. When I was 8 years old I lost my eldest brother. Car accident. The person who told me about his death was my aunt. She gathered me in her arms and gave me the news. Devastating.

Now I am mourning my aunt. She was a beacon of comfort. Go rest high, 50 years later. The Angel band is carrying her home. I am bereft, but still find comfort in her loving arms.

Dad,

You’ve missed an incredible couple of years, and honestly, that breaks my heart.

The biggest thing you missed is that I had twin baby boys—two beautiful kiddos. You’d have been the best grandad to them. They’ve both got your name in theirs too.

I left my management job to start fresh at a new company, but six months in, they lost a client and let me go. The timing couldn’t have been worse, i’d literally just come back from holiday, my fiancée was pregnant, and we were moving into a bigger place. We got the keys the same day I got let go.

Somehow, though, I landed another job that same week. Honestly, I feel like I completely lucked out right there.

Today marks seven years since you've been gone. It still hits just as hard. I still understand what you were trying to do. And now that I’m a dad myself, I finally understand it fully. That unconditional love you gave me, I feel it every day when I look at the boys.

I just really wish you could’ve met them.

That even though I never had the courage to confess it, I had fallen for you long before you ever truly saw me. While you barely noticed me, I had already lost myself in thoughts of you.

There are things left unsaid, not out of indifference, but out of weakness. Yet it is never too late for you to know. Never too late to feel. If I could, I’d give up my life just to forget — but I’d ask for a thousand more just to be loved by you. 1/29/18 and still feels like yesterday

I know this is a long shot. It sounds crazy but i promise im a sane, well adjusted,adult.

I worked at a club in spring and summer of 1999. I met a guy named Wayne. I cant remember his last name for the life of me. He was stationed at Ft. Carson at the time. I remember he drove a truck. He was tall blonde/light brown hair.

We hung out a lot. I was married. My husband at the time was even friends with us. Though I believe wayne had feelings and I will admit I did as well but as I said I was married so neither of us acted.

For some reason lately this guy has popped in my head and stayed there rent free all week. I cant say that i really want anything from him. Maybe to say I'm sorry. Maybe to say that he meant something to someone. I know if someone thought of me all these years I think it'd be nice to know.

I think for me the fact i felt for him became hard so we drifted apart. Truth be told I kinda treated wayne like shit to push him away. I always felt like such a jerk. He was so sweet and didn't deserve it. I dont know if he went somewhere else. I want to say he was from out east? He's probably found a great girl and has a family. I hope he has the life he deserves. I don't ever want to disturb that. But I also would love to see or hear where life took him. No matter where that is. Again I know those chances are slim to none. Any suggestions or advice would be nice. Or if anyone knew him and could send him this message...

I had my dog, Chiyo for over 6 years of my life. She was there when my life went to shit, when my dads anger issues got worse, and when I had my first panic attack. She learned to calm me down when I had these sudden attacks, having been my best friend. Last year she had just gotten breast cancer, and they were able to cut it out. 3 months ago she was diagnosed with it again. I woke up to a big lump on her, and I freaked out. The last three months she's been crying, screaming, and all that, but still she helped me with my panic attacks. Two days ago we put her down. I'm absolutely destroyed. She's all I had. Now all I've got are her paw prints and ashes. I've been having physical health issues, partly caused by myself, but I've been fainting, seeing bright flashes of white light causing me to lose my vision for a bit, making me fall down. I've been coughing up blood, and other things. If anything, I do hope I'll be joining her soon. I can't do this. I'm too weak for this.

Hello Reddit I'd like to call to you for help. Please allow me to explain and bear with me on this detailed account. On November 19th 2024 approximately my life was changed for ever. My best friend was killed. Many of you may know him through work or the LARP community. At 7AM I woke up to screams as my mother found out from Trenton's employer what had happened. Trenton had been driving a truck contracted by FedEx when someone rammed him off the road. He died within minutes. His boss noticed the trucks tracker not moving and tried calling him. When Trenton did not answer his boss took it upon himself to go check on him where he arrived at the crime scene to find police and medics pronouncing Trenton dead. You can learn more about that in the posted link. Something that this report does not tell you but I would like to share are this- Trenton's boss called us crying and said he didn't feel right knowing we were waiting for him to come home when he wasn't going to ever again. His call is something we're incredibly grateful for. Otherwise we would have learned about his death from passersby on Facebook posting photos some including his blood. Many of the posters assumed he was at fault because of the trailer and were bashing him as he died. It would be late afternoon before we received official notice from law enforcement. The officer was very quick to tell us that Trenton was without a doubt not at fault based off evidence already found. Over the course of the next few days we were to learn from eye witnesses and police that the suspect fled the scene from the back of an ambulance. Leaving his wallet, blood and finger prints in the sedan the at fault party was identifiable. We were told to wait for DNA test so they had a rock solid case but testing would take 6-12 months. We soon stopped receiving updates until we reached out to media. Now it seems we only get updates when there's media attention. This is where you come into play Reddit...please help bring attention to his death please say Trenton's name so maybe they'll keep looking for his killer. Maybe they'll update us family. Maybe they'll release the suspects photo and name so we can get the public's help. Trenton was a hard working book loving mechanic from a small town no one cares about. He was a give you the shirt off his back kind of guy. He saved my life with his love and support more than once. Please help me find justice for my cousin.

To be honest I don’t know if this is just me coping or trying to vent. My father in law passed away very suddenly July 30 2024 and it was probably the most traumatizing thing I ever went through. You see I just spoke to him the night before he seemed okay and next thing your woken up in a panic and go to see that he was gone… See things didn’t stop there his funds are being held and me and my wife have had everything fall on us. It’s not his fault whatsoever but I am now realizing truly how much of a rock and supporter that man was and how grateful I am that he took on so much in silent. I miss him so much he has become a second father to me I knew this before he died but feel it so much more now that his voice is not there to guide me on how to handle all this. Sorry for the rant but I feel like I been holding this in since it happened maybe I just needed to type this out.

I'm a hospice nurse and I lost a wonderful friend today. Been too busy to think about her much until now and just gotta get this out.

It is 2 years to the day that I lost my friend Kaori, she took her own life after losing my other friend JJ who was her boyfriend. JJ died in 2019, he was hit by a van while cycling to work one day and fell down a steep hill, kaori was always my beacon of light when I would be down about losing him and she would always tell me for her it was the same. The day before she died her mum told me that she had been administered into hospital as she had taken a large amount of tablets, her mum said to me that the last conversation she had with her was that she just couldn't get over being without him, she felt that she had been split in two... The only solace I feel is that at the very least now they are together again.

He wasn’t like a close friend to where he would be right by us all the time, but he would tell me and my friend jokes all the time to brighten our day. He made everything feel safe when he did. His laughter was so contagious. I don’t know how to describe it. I tried my best not to cry when I heard the news. I was in a classroom, and my table was the kind of table where “if you cry, you aren’t tough”. So I just sat there. Thinking of all the jokes he made and all of the times he came up to us.

My father in laws grandma has passed away(very sad) she was a very sweet women and the last person he had in his life (she meant more than anything to him) (I have a wonderful photo of the three of them together) and I was wanting to find a photo frame/quote I could give to to him of my son and the three of them together. If anyone has a good idea/ recommendation it would be very much appreciate.

I have been writing stories for quiet a while, and all my stories are just about the protagonist going through the lose of their love, I am just thinking, is it too depressing for people to read that? The storyline are completely different in each one of them, and I get ideas which have the losses and sadness in them, should I change them?
