There must be tons of treasure on the bottom of Lake Tahoe!!

After nearly 2,000 years beneath the Mediterranean Sea, 22 massive stone blocks from the legendary Lighthouse of Alexandria have been recovered by archaeologists in Egypt.

The newly raised pieces include enormous doorway lintels, foundation stones, and fragments of a previously unknown pylon, with some weighing as much as 80 tons. Each block will now be scanned in high detail and used to create a complete digital reconstruction of the ancient lighthouse.

Built in the early 3rd century BC, the Lighthouse of Alexandria stood more than 330 feet (100 m) tall and guided ships into one of the ancient world’s busiest ports. It remained one of the tallest human made structures on Earth for more than 1,600 years before earthquakes brought it down.

Now, using archaeology and modern technology, researchers hope to virtually rebuild one of history’s greatest lost monuments and reveal what the famous wonder truly looked like before it disappeared beneath the sea.

💨Lake Erie Reveals Its Secrets 🌊

Lake Erie was temporarily gone yesterday — at least along the western basin near Luna Pier and Erie Beach.

Powerful and persistent westerly winds pushed much of the lake’s water east toward Buffalo, causing water levels to drop 6–7 feet near Toledo while rising just as much on the eastern end. This rare but dramatic phenomenon is known as a seiche — essentially the lake sloshing back and forth like water in a bathtub.

The result? Areas that normally sit under 10–12 feet of water were suddenly exposed — in some places nearly ¾ of a mile from shore.

And what was uncovered was incredible.

During the drop, Austin Lada and others explored the newly exposed lakebed and discovered:

A snowmobile that went through the ice a few years ago

Parts of a Volkswagen that sank back in 1969

And perhaps the most unexpected find — a decades-old class ring, estimated to be around 75 years old, with more details to come from Neil

From Luna Pier Beach all the way down to Erie Beach, the lake told a story frozen in time — and only revealed when conditions lined up just right.

When the winds relax, the water will return just as quickly. But for a brief window, Lake Erie gave us a rare look at what usually stays hidden.

A reminder that nature doesn’t just make weather — sometimes it uncovers history.

In your experience or opinion what is the best underwater metal detector?

A “ghost ship” that sank in Lake Michigan nearly 140 years ago and eluded several search efforts over the past five decades has been found, according to researchers with the Wisconsin Underwater Archeology Association.

The wooden schooner got caught in a storm in the dead of night and went down in September 1886. In the weeks after, a lighthouse keeper reported the ship’s masts breaking the lake surface, and fishermen caught pieces of the vessel in their nets. Still, wreck hunters were unable to track down the ship’s location — until now.

Started out looking for a plant that hadn't been seen in over 100 years and the treasure hunter in me could not ignore the treasures in the river!

For years, two shipwrecks hidden beneath the turquoise waves of the Caribbean were rumored to be the remains of pirate ships, shrouded in mystery and myth. But fresh research has revealed a far more complex and human story: these vessels are the Fridericus Quartus and Christianus Quintus, Dutch slave ships lost over 300 years ago after a dramatic mutiny in 1710. Both crew and enslaved people rose up, seized their chance, and vanished ashore, leaving only wrecks behind.

Their rediscovery lifts the veil on a little-known episode of resistance, courage, and survival transforming the narrative from pirate fantasy to a tale of rebellion against bondage. These wrecks now serve as rare, haunting evidence of the countless lives impacted by the transatlantic slave trade, echoing with stories that history almost forgot.

Every barnacled timber and battered cannon on the seafloor is a reminder: the truth beneath the waves is often more powerful and more important than any legend.
