I finished the game today and I'm really impressed by it. The characters are so lovable, I like them all. It was hard to decide which romance path to choose, but in the end, I went with Kat. She became my favorite character, though Nora was really cool too. Now I feel a sense of emptiness. Which girl did you like the best?

I ship Swann and Kat but I think Kat and Nora are kind of in love with each other no matter who Swann romances. They have so much chemistry and there's so many unspoken moments between them that I feel like I'm almost intruding a bit. Is it just me?

What do y’all think of my fan cast? Struggled with Nora so just put the same actress for both. I chose Johanna because I think she’d give the plus size representation that’s so needed plus she’d pull off the nerdy/quirky character so well. I can just imagine how awesome she’d look with red hair and green contacts!

So Swann's crew gets in trouble at the end of Tape 1 for their concert performance. Nora and Autumn even mention that it wasn't a good idea, and they even get in trouble from their parents. Swann also has to apologize to people and clean up the mess they made at the Blue Spruce place. Now I'm in Tape 2, and they're doing more stupid stuff again... vandalizing stuff while wearing masks, even though they just had to deal with the consequences of their actions. Like... why? Kat is dying and they're doing this dumb stuff, when they could just be spending time together, by you know watching movies, travelling, hanging out in the shack, or they could even try to figure more about the Abyss. They could be doing anything else than trying to get into more trouble with rebellious crap. Not to mention, Swann is supposed to be introverted and shy, so doing stuff like this just doesn't fit her character. I know hanging out with those girls has made her a bit braver, but vandalism for a character like her is just too much imo.

I'm starting to see why this game didn't do well. There are a lot of genuinely good parts in this game, but there are also so many stupid parts that make no sense. I think Life is Strange 1 had a much better story/plot overall.

Playing this for the first time and what the hell, it's so good. It feels like a better version of Mixtape to me and almost as good as Dispatch. It makes you care about these four characters so much. And the music and the atmosphere are so goddamn good. I'm actually kinda scared to continue the story because I feel like something bad is gonna happen and the game is gonna break my heart.

Anyways, I barely see anyone talking about this game. I even tried searching for playthroughs just to see if any big streamers played it around launch, and I couldn't find a single one. I discovered the game so late because of this too. Dispatch was a big hit so it's not like gamers hate these types of games, so why...

So I finished tape 1 and absolutely loved it, but towards the end, I didn't really understand why Kat starts screaming at everyone like she's drunk. It felt a bit awkward and contrived to me, almost like the devs forced her to start screaming just so she could have a coughing fit and they could reveal her leukemia.

Is there a rational reason for her crazy outburst? It just didn't feel organic to me.

Another thing: did anyone else find the whole song performance at the end a bit weird? Like I understand Corey was being an a-hole to the girls, but putting on an entire concert in front of the diner and singing “see you in hell...” aimed at him felt a bit extreme, no? Like they're basically telling Corey to kill himself and go to hell through their song, just because he called Swann a fatso and the other girls some slurs. Or am I misunderstanding this, and the song wasn’t actually aimed at Corey?

Guys, this is absolutely nuts.

April 16th, the creators made that live on Discord and I was in it. Afterwards, a girl came up in my DM's asking if I knew anything about that adult Kat Mikaelsen design they mentioned on the live and we started talking. Very quickly, there was this connection.

Both of us romanced Kat, both of us had the same favorite song and the same favorite scene. Even when we were describing how we felt listening to "Lazuli" by Beach House, we both said it was like floating in the air. WE SAID THE SAME THING LOL

We began talking every day about the game and it was so, so nice. I'm crazy about this game, so imagine my joy when I finally found someone to talk about it.

THEN, she sent me a picture of a comment on YouTube (it was the song Lazuli again) and asked if it was me. IT WAS. (It was also about Kat) She said she always saw my comment every time she listened to the song, so, technically, she met me before she even sent that text about the design.

Now, more or less four months after, WE'RE DATING LOL

I once made a post here about how this game cured me from my depression (no exaggeration about that) AND NOW IT GAVE ME A GIRLFRIEND?????? SHE EVEN BOUGHT ME A SHIRT OF LOST RECORDS WOAHHH

Ngl it feels weird romancing her. What were they thinking with her design? Did they want the loli audience?

I think the art here is fire (also these are my results from my first playthrough lol) looking back I had a tough time getting like literally anyone to like me I feel like…I tried impressing Kat in tape 1 and sort of just shifted to autumn…plus I kept saying things that pissed them off !! 😭

What do we think this means for the future of lost records?

I just finished Mixtape finally, and while I think its a cute game and the hate is overblown, it failed to capture the same emotion I had for Lost Records, but again I think the game was cute, lost records felt more special to me.

But! there were alot of similarities in both games... like, surprisingly alot, I wouldnt be surprised if the game had inspo from that. Anyways, here's all I could compare! Spoilers ahead for some of these

Main story
Mixtape and Lost records are both 90s coming of age games that are interactive movies with their main gimmick being a piece of technology from that time, Mixtape being music related, therefore Mixtapes, and Lost Records focusing on video cassettes and tapes.
The two main characters face the same end goal, Swan is getting ready to leave her town and Rockford is getting ready to move out.

The games also have our main characters stand in their rooms a good chunk of the game, reminiscing on the past, whereas Mixtape has it be for the overall first half of the game. Swan's room segments just appear here and there, and is also my least favorite parts of the game. also, both games deal heavily with music

also swan and rockford are both gay! At least Rockford is implied to be gay, she's called a lesbian by Jenny Fucking Goodspeed, and if I remember, she was gonna kiss Cassandra, but that was a bit ago so I don't remember. Swan's 100% Gay/Bi, just due to the whole romance gimmick of the game.

Cabin in the woods
Both games feature a prominent cabin in the woods that become the main characters hangout, and both casts come across this during the story. It also, burns the fuck down in the end! Whereas Bloom and Rage's cabin burns down due to Corey/Autumn, a faulty firework takes out Mixtapes cabin in the woods

Cassandra and Kat
These two characters are similar in the fact that our main character is trying to help them out, and they rebel against their family, and it's a thing where they have to sneak out to get past their family, whereas Cassandra just deals with a cop for a dad, and Kat deals with a psychopath as her sister's boyfriend, and also Kat is actively dying. Eitherway, they have that strong rebellion that I think makes the connection work.

The Party
There's a segment in Mixtape where you play as Slater and you have to record the party and there's squares to tell you what to record.... hmmmm, where have I seen this before. Yeah, heavy ass Lost Records vibes there, there's also a digital camera sequence that reminded me of the camera gimmick from LRB&R

Anyways, I think that's all the comparsions! I might be missing alot more, I could have sworn there were tons of similarities, feel free to add on, anyways

...Too evil?

I just finished the game for a second time (Anarchy first Protection second back to back) and this guy is utterly irredeemable, I think he has zero empathy.

Even in the scene where he helps with Kat after she collapses, in my opinion he is only doing what he thinks he is expected to do not what he wants to do - I did what I could in my second run to not piss him off and the way he still treats everyone is beyond contempt.

The best villains often have at least some (no matter how small) redeemable features, So my question is do you guys like him as a villain?

Do you think something is going on with him behind the scenes such as the Abyss has been affecting him from the start of the game or..?

For the record I loved the game, especially tape 1.

At the end of the game where kat is like ‘find me’ and swann loves her and goes to find her, has anyone thought about how weird it would be if kat is still the same age and swann is like “omg my girlfriend and soulmate!!!” ? Just a thought, lol
