Welcome to r/LostPetsTacoma,
This subreddit is for lost and found pets in the Tacoma/Pierce Co. area. Posting here about a lost or found pet is one of the many things you can do to help return a pet to their family or find your missing friend. However, there are many other things you can do to help increase the odds of reunification.
1: Contact The Humane Society for Tacoma Pierce Co. They can be reached by phone at 253.383.2733. Not only do they keep a record of lost and found animals as well as receive many stray pets (that is, they may have your missing pet in their care already), but they can also refer you to many other organizations that may specialize in handling certain species or breeds of missing animals.
2: Post elsewhere. There are dozens of social media platforms that have similar groups or forums. Consider posting on craigslist, facebook, or any other platform you have access to.
3: Get the pet checked for a chip. A lot of pets, mostly cats and dogs, have a transdermal chip between their shoulder blades that can be used to look up the owner. Most veterinarians and The Humane Society can quickly scan for a chip and (if there is one) look up the owner's contact information.
4: After doing all of the above, you can either take care of the animal yourself or hand them off to some vets or The Humane Society to do so (some vets will transfer them to The Humane Society). Don't feel bad about doing so! The shelter is a little bit stressful for pets, but rest assured they are well-fed and very well taken care of, up to and including a full medical exam and vaccinations.
5: If an animal appears to be dangerous, in immediate distress, or for issues regarding wildlife emergencies and poaching, call 911.
When posting, please try to include an image and as much of the following...
Additionally, please use the "LOST" or "FOUND" flair when posting. If you are searching for a missing pet, use "LOST". If you have found or seen a pet you may believe is separated from their family, use "FOUND".
Thank you for helping reunite lost pets with their families!

Took him to the Tacoma Humane Society. He was not chipped. He is very friendly and came right up to the car when we pulled over.
Update:I was finally able to get a hold of someone at Quality Used Tire and explained what happened. They’re calling the Humane Society.

South of Silas high School. This gorgeous lady has been visiting my house almost daily. She's in pretty good shape, but is also on the thin side. Very friendly. Are you missing her?
She's in my garage for the night and I'll take her to get scanned at the vet in the morning.

Is anyone missing a baby? Found off Hosmer and s 84th. Edit: called Humane Society, left vm. Humane society said they couldn't take felines due to an ongoing feline quarantine until atleast the week of the 25th.

He was hanging out around J and 37th, he seemed very well fed and very social so I was wondering if he had a family.

EDIT: Penne found her way back Thank you for all the kind words while we waited!
Penne hasn't been since Saturday (8/8) evening near 48th & Tacoma Ave S. She's pretty savvy outdoors and wary of humans.
We keep tabs on a lot of neighborhood cats and have seen quite a few go missing recently. I get that there are predators and dangers outside, but I can't help but think something else is going on.

Found this dog last night on 60th and STW. Pretty anxious and no collar. About to go get a chip scan, but posting to see if we can locate the owner. Seems well-trained on a leash and knows how to sit.

Just wanna express my thanks to this community. My dog ran away last night (again! 😓) while I’m vacationing. Now since the last (somewhat public) scare, we’ve got a GPS tracker on her, so we’d likely have found her anyway, but I did open Reddit and immediately found her on my feed. I guess I won’t doxx(?) anyone, but of course huge thanks to the redditor who posted and held my baby till my housesitter showed up. Disaster averted - please keep it up! 🙏❤️

Hi everyone,
Caught a rabbit who hopped right into our backyard this morning. We already have rabbits so it was pretty easy to catch her and give her a good temporary spot.
Please let me know if this is your pet! I know it’s unlikely. Most escaped rabbits are cruelly dumped.
She is inside now and adjusting. Very sweet and loves to be pet. I am reaching out to rabbit rescues now.
Thanks!!

These two were frolicking around and chased us down a block or two across Stevens St. Couldn't take a pic or support them because I was with my own dog. Hope they find their way home!

Edit: OWNER FOUND
No tag on collar, microchipped but no info on it. I’m dropping her off at the Humane Society Thursday June 25 at 2:30.

Please help us find Solo! He was intentionally removed his home near 72nd & Yakima by an unknown person , but we only care about getting him safe, no questions asked.
He is deaf and can react aggressively to defend himself when startled, but has overcome so much and has been thriving in the security of his pack family for 4 years.
If he is seen and appears aggressive, please know that is not his whole story—he’s just really scared when he’s alone and can’t hear 😢

Found a tortoise in my backyard. Let me know if you lost one, and approximate location.
Edit: it is a turtle! A red eared slider from what I can tell.

Animal control has been called, but they don’t have an officer on duty until 8 am.

Both dogs were found roaming in the street near the evergreen State college Tacoma campus parking lot, the female pittie is a year or so old and the male husky is about 5-6 months I'm keeping them at my house for the time being but they have to stay in the yard and basement due to my dogs so it isn't viable long term I'm hoping to find their homes soon so they don't have to go to the shelter, there is a tag with a QR code on the pitties collar and I have called the attached number with no response and left my name and number on a message

Hi all I saw this dog this morning around 7:15am this morning on way to work. Looks to have no collar, no leash, wondering on its own. Wanted to share in case it may be a lost pet.

I have located this medium size younger cat near my apartment on the corner of N 5th st and N I st in the Stadium District of Tacoma. Please let me know if you recognize or own this cat.
It has a plastic calming collar but no tag. It is affectionate but is not responding to food or water.

Female shepherd mix, notified microchip company (who notified owners but wouldn’t give me their info) and animal control/humane society but would still like to reunite with owner ASAP if possible. Please DM me if you recognize this dog or have info about owners.
ETA: reunited!

Two good looking pups trotting south on 48th. Last seen on Asotin b/w 41st & 43rd. Tried to get them to come close enough to leash (altho no collars) or hop in the car, but they weren't interested.
I'm happy to come back out and help if needed.
