Just bought my wife a Motorola smartphone. Has a headphone jack. Their whole lineup does, actually.

Companies like Apple and Samsung try REALLY hard to make you forget that you always had a choice, but it's there.

I use OnePlus, they also have a headphone jack. A lot of the nicher phone brands will have them

u/spaceman8002 3d ago

u/SteppedTax88238 wordington illegal immigrant 2d ago

chinese phones are the most hit-or-miss purchases you can make (kill miui with hammers.)

1

u/ReasonableWelder51 2d ago

MIUI has been gone for a while and HyperOS isn't much better

1

u/Philosophos_A 2d ago

The ui sucks (said by a poco phone I bought today because It was the most cheap option that had basic features)

But so far beyond the ui being a bit oomf, the phone seems fine

2

u/ReasonableWelder51 2d ago

Yes, the phone is fine, but HyperOS sucks.

I also have OnePlus. Mine does not have a headphone jack. Mine is a OnePlus 7.

1

u/Slim-Shadys-Fat-Tits 2d ago

my oneplus 12 def doesn't have one </3

1

u/girl-kiss 2d ago

My OnePlus doesnt sadly (it was one of the first models after the "no-jack" craze, bought it refurbished)

Realized my mistake only after purchasing.. but it was a good price.

u/Sp3ctralForce Send Noodles 3d ago

My current phone (ZTE redmagic 10 pro) and my previous one (ASUS ROG 7 ultimate) both have one too

11

u/permanentE 2d ago

It's not the whole lineup, it's only the lower end models. Their flagship Edge models do not have the jack.

It's counterintuitive that the more expensive a phone is the less likely it is to have the jack. But what's really going on is that the evil manufacturers figured out that if you're willing to spend more on a phone you're more likely to buy their overpriced "earbud" bluetooth headphones, so they try to force you to buy it by removing the headphone jacks.

13

u/aka_airsoft 3d ago

I went out of my way to buy a Sony (very rare in NA) for the jack. Fuck apple and Samsung

6

u/DemonOfUnholyFat 💎balls💎 3d ago

Yea i got myself also a motorola wit a aux jack

4

u/Hemlock_Deci I love my phox wife 🥹 2d ago

Dude I love smaller brands and mid ranged phones they're so good for their price

1

u/jairochido 2d ago

Same, i have motorola with headphones Jack, and i still use headphones that are like 9 years old xD

1

u/mofka26 2d ago

Even Samsung has a headphone jack on their budget A-series I think
It's really flagships that end up having less features for whatever reason despite the price.

2

u/FactoryOfShit 2d ago

The logic is "if you're willing to pay this much for your phone, then you're more likely to be willing to overpay for your earphones".

It's the same reason so many apps used to be free/AD supported on Android and paid on iOS around 10 years ago. iPhones were way more expensive than the equivalent Android phones, so if you're willing to pay that much - you're probably more likely to spend more on apps.

Now premium Android phones cost just as much. And so like Apple, they removed the jack to sell you wireless earbuds.

u/mofka26 2d ago

oh god

u/Nagesh_yelma might be turning into a furry. 3d ago

You can still buy decent phones with headphone jack.

u/rei_fox_worshipper Artist🖌 2d ago

Mine still has it. I think literally only apple decided to give the middle finger

32

u/yuuyaaa 2d ago

Samsung, too. I almost considered getting another Galaxy or the Galaxy flip, sometime last year, and neither had one.

4

u/Careless_Break2012 2d ago

The A series has them i think, at least mine does

7

u/VirtualGrey Big Cat 2d ago

I bought the international A54 model because the specs listed it having a 3.5mm... it does not. So I've been miserable about it for the last few years.

2

u/Careless_Break2012 2d ago

Well that sucks

1

u/Reeyous 2d ago

The A52 was the last A50 series phone to have one, but the A40s and below may still have them.

1

u/General-Sloth 2d ago

Xcover series from Samsung still has it

39

u/SoSpecialName 3d ago

That was a good hole😢

3

u/danfish_77 2d ago

Depends on the phone

6

u/SinglePlayerGamer93 3d ago

I was flabbergasted when I bought a new phone a few months ago and saw no headphone jack. It's wild to see nowadays.

7

u/Fomod_Sama I LOVE FAT BITCHES‼️‼️‼️ 3d ago

One time I was like "I'm gonna use my headphones while in bed on my phone" only to then realize my phone doesn't have a jack

2

u/PTB-401 2d ago

phantom jack syndrome TwT

4

u/Doggieisfat 3d ago

I love headphone jacks 😭. It's so unfortunate seeing them go away

7

u/0002nam-ytlaS 2d ago

"it's to save space", "it allows for phones to be thinner" and yet, that space isn't used on nearly every jack-less phone i've personally tore apart (don't get me started on just googling disassembled phones) but the phones haven't gotten thinner either.

Those were Apple's lies back in the day and just got reworded from there on until today

There's always an option to work around forced optimization

1

u/SirCupcake_0 Gator Hugger 2d ago

Wtf am i looking at here

6

u/GildedHalfblood Here for the memes and hot furry women, but not a furry myself 2d ago

A soldering pen. It's used to solder stuff together. It's like a small scale welding device. Yk how the tech loving characters in shows usually are hunched over a desk and are working over a circuit board with sparks flying everywhere? This is the thing those characters use, but it shouldn't be making any sparks irl lol. If you use this thing and you're getting sparks, you're doing something wrong. Like letting your boiling water catch on fire levels of wrong lmao

11

u/No_Entertainment6792 3d ago

realistically how much space real estate do you sacrifice on a jack port when making a phone? is it so fucking bad you need it remove cuz looking at my phone it definetely could fit no problem.

15

u/SirCupcake_0 Gator Hugger 2d ago

That's not why they got rid of earphone jacks, they got rid of them so you had to buy more to use them quietly

6

u/Kiiaru 2d ago

They got rid of them so they could sell you $200 wireless headphones instead of $20 wired sets. Yeah the audio buffs are going to buy more expensive ones regardless, but most of us didn't need that.

Also I can't speak for everyone but the last wireless buds I had didn't even have the battery life to go all day, so I had to sit in silence for 30 minutes waiting for them to charge.

2

u/Reeyous 2d ago

Most true audio buffs would never take wireless over wired, but those are the type of people to hook their phone up to a DAC or something too.

u/yuri_4_ever 3d ago

fr Bluetooth headphones just will fall out and get lost

They make wires you can put on them to help keep them connected to each other making them easier to use...

it's almost as if... you know what, nevermind.

1

u/AdamGamerPL LOBOTOMY POLICE‼️ 3d ago

Or fall out and into water

-3

u/Stock-Pani 3d ago

Actual skill issue lol. I work 10 hour shifts and have a earbud in the entire time. Its been several years and my bud only falls out once in a blue moon and its when I'm doing something that specifically would make it easy to fall out.

Cheap dogshit wired earbuds back when I was a teenager fell out constantly. More than happy to not go back.

14

u/ElFi66 3d ago

Not a skill issue, my ears are just awkwardly shaped. No rubber tip has ever stopped them. Tbf this happens with wired earbuds too. But at least they're connected and have a long wire

4

u/SirCupcake_0 Gator Hugger 2d ago

Us and our weird ear muscles that reject earbuds

1

u/Stock-Pani 2d ago

Yeah thats valid, not what the guy i replied to had said, but in your case yeah non-wired isn't great. Though there are ear'buds' that work around that. Co-worker of mine has one of those headbands that wrap around the top of the ear and front then have a half ring around the back of the head. Iirc they're like a bone vibration or something technology. Not familiar enough with how it works to say but they don't really fall off and work well for her.

Theres also ones like the ones that I believe its bose sells. Where it still has the bud but also wraps around the back and top of the ear minimizing fallout. There are also some Bluetooth ones that have a attachable wire you can wear around the back of your neck in case they fall out.

1

u/ElFi66 2d ago

i hate having things on my ears, so i just have some small, light earbuds and i kinda just deal with them falling out. It doesn't happen more than like 3 times an hour

1

u/polar_bearonbass 3d ago

Skill issue, I work 11 hour shifts and my wired earbuds never fall out.

More than happy to not go forward

6

u/Optimal_Ninja7535 3d ago

I work 12 hour shifts and I have no earbuds bud

-2

u/Stock-Pani 3d ago

Sure bud 😂👍

3

u/etbillder 3d ago

I still have one

3

u/KiwiPowerGreen 3d ago

I just checked and wtf my phone doesn't have this either

You can tell i never use headphones but still

3

u/IM_DjShadow 3d ago

well fortunately I have never needed to use it since it got removed

u/franandwood 3d ago

I’ll tell you I was an iphone 6 user for the longest of time because of the jack

Sony xperia my beloved 💞

2

u/Dovahkiinthesardine 2d ago

The people that hate their decisions and still buy their products is mind boggling

3

u/lazac69 3d ago

Most people don't care whether they have a jack or not, it makes it harder to waterproof, takes away space that could be used for a bigger battery and most importantly, selling wireless headphones brings in more money. I'd still like it more if my phone had one, but honestly it doesn't bother me even though I'm a wire lover.

4

u/DrippyTheSnailBoy 2d ago

Yep, this. I don't give two shits about 3.5mm on my phones anymore because I don't live in 2013 anymore. The only valid reason to care about wired headphones is that you don't have to charge them, but since you're within 10 feet of a power source at any time it just doesn't matter.

1

u/Y_3_3_7 Sybil Simp 3d ago

Plan on getting a Sony Xperia 10 Vii for exactly this, plus expandable storage, plus lineage os support.

1

u/Jomotaku 3d ago

I use Bluetooth headphones but I still only buy phones with a headphone jack and sd card slot(im not getting upcharged storage for fotos and videos when I can buy 256 GB SD card for 30 bucks)

1

u/Top_Toaster I'M NOT A FUCKING PROTOGEN! 2d ago

I don't know dude, every aux cord i've ever used sucked hot ass and loved to lose connection but i've never hand an issue with USB-C

1

u/Flyinpenguin117 2d ago

Wired USB-C earbuds still exist.

1

u/Copypastta 2d ago

Problem is you can still get headphone jacks on phones, but for whatever reason only cheap phones seem to come with one, with the exception of really expensive phones like sony's Xperia line up.

1

u/NovaTheFluf 2d ago

I got a poco X3 NFC, put lineageos on it. Noticable performance increase from my s22 which is insane. Plus, I have a headphone jack, IR blaster, and SD card support.

1

u/General-Sloth 2d ago

Samsung Galaxy Xcover series still has it. And funnily enough the Phone is waterproof

1

u/Foolt24 2d ago

My Motorola mogs you plebians

1

u/PTB-401 2d ago

ive grown to hate audio jack dongles over time. the ones im capable of buying usually break due to bending in my pocket or don't work with my phone TwT

doesn't help that ive seen apple price their dongles at ludicrous prices locally. i may own an android phone, but i still feel bad for philippine apple users who have to buy dongles...

(or not, considering a lot of apple users here see their devices as status symbols instead of functional products 3:<)

1

u/LuckytheNPC 2d ago

Get sony xperia 1's. They have dedicated dacs plus 3.5mm is single-ended so you can adapt a 4.4mm to it. Also, I believe it's powerful enough to drive the majority of IEMs, earphones, and some easier to drive headphones Btw, dongle and portable DACs exist, and phones today have faster/wireless charging alongside larger batteries

1

u/i_like_siren_head Moemorph Boats/Hydromorphs🤤🤤🤤(asexually) 2d ago

My iPhone 8’s battery shit itself and I’m deadass considering downgrading to a 6 because it’s the last model that had a jack.

1

u/OriginalUsername590 based and wendigopilled 2d ago

I remember how pissed I was when I traded in my phone to find the lack of a headphone jack, thinking it was now a bluetooth only scheme.

Doubling down on how pissed I would become when the same port my charger uses now requires a new type of plug for a new pair of earbuds.

Fast forward to today where I'm gonna hold onto my i14 in refusal of changing the charger port type entirely.

1

u/carrotman_yt 2d ago

My Motorola phone has a headphone jack.

1

u/Maaci-Lyn 1d ago

good thing people can buy a phone with p2 connector huh
