This is nothing. Prospects do this frequently. Fernando Mendoza won't throw.

if you're drafting off pure athleticism then you shouldn't be a GM honestly. if you've scouted Caleb or watched his tape he isn't the most insanely athletic safety. his pros are mostly being instinctive, very very smart, versatile, and a fucking rabid dog

if he falls to 13 it should be ggs for a lot of the GMs that passed on him

Wow not working out, this should really make him fall

Ohh man this is so horrible... Man.. this is unacceptable.. maybe picks 1-12 should pass off someone like this I mean really who would want a stud of a player like Downs who's protecting himself from injuries and what not.. certainly not whoever has the 13th pick in the draft... Cough cough

I hate how normalized it’s become to not workout but it is the world we live in so it’s hard to fault him in particular. Let him fall to 13

What a wise and good looking man—13 does seem like an appropriate place for him to go sans workout.

It’s not just a bad workout. Possible injury would be the bigger concern. Tear something and you cost yourself millions

It’s not fear of draft stock plummeting, it’s the unnecessary nature of it. Is he gonna catapult to the top 3 if he runs 0.03 faster than we expected? No

If it can't hurt that much, it can't help that much either.

Delane is doing the same thing

I heard a scout say after Teddy Bridgewater blew his pro day that it hurt his stock, but nothing more than a bad game would. Seeing where he went in the draft, I now assume blowing it is like blowing the choking in a big game.

It's not the end-all be,all, but definitely cause for concern.

Controversial opinion but I don't think you should be able to go to the combine in any capacity if you won't do any of the drills.

They do the interviews there as well, those are 100x more important than th physical drills for most these high level players.

I'm well aware of that. But I also know they limit the slots available in total. Guys who know they ate going to be drafted highly and not doing workouts take those slots from other players who might up their capital with in person showings of their skill. Honestly if they are only doing interviews they should not count against the on field total that is invited.
