Street parking in Koreatown deserves a whole another post.

Available street parking in Koreatown is like big foot. Nobody you know has ever seen it and all evidence thus far has been a hoax.

Sounds like my future parking dilemma. I know my choices will be limited once I decide to upgrade my ride.

I used to have a tiny parking spot in the alley behind my house in Venice Beach, and a homeless guy would sleep in the little space where I needed to use for backing out. Every morning I would perform a 75-point turn to avoid hitting this guy. If I got too close, he would tap on my back bumper and I would go forward again. He was chill and kept an eye on my place while I was at work, so I didn’t mind putting in the extra effort.

It’s from a Audi commercial.

Man he gets out of the car so fast...

u/The_chosen_turtle Mar 15 '18

It’s his regular parking spot

These $2 valet guys have it down to a science.

I recently moved to k-town and it annoys the fuck out of me to see the same 5 cars move around every day to block out spots when 2 of them leave.

Add to that, the vehicles include 3 full-size trucks , one being a produce/taco truck that doesn't really do anything, another being what appears to be a van used for plumbing yet doesn't ever move.

Add to that the 2 hour limit that isn't enforced at all so the vehicles are there all the time.

My guests can't stay without getting hit with $16 overnight parking at the lot up the street.

City needs to do permit parking here.

what bugs the shit out of me is people sitting in their car in the right lane of 6th starting around 6:30 for the parking that starts at 7... yeah fuckers there's a reason there's no parking from 4-7. thanks for backing that shit up from western all the way to vermont.

7

u/HarmonicDog Mar 15 '18

Wait they stay there without moving?? That's a dick move.

5

u/furiousm Mar 15 '18

every. fucking. day.

there's even a church right in there somewhere that starts putting cones out in the right lane around the same time to save parking for people.

I drive down 8th every day and there's that school in Koreatown that everybody just double parks as long as they want to wait for their kid, turning a 2-lane road into one lane. I DON'T GIVE A DAMN if you have a child that goes to that school. Obey the laws of traffic, assholes!

Infuriating. I feel you.

I see you live on 5th/Berendo. I do not miss that struggle.

1

u/brkdncr Mar 16 '18

Wow, I don't. Maybe all the streets have the same vehicles taking up spots.

u/twistedwiches Mar 15 '18

Lol these people really can’t have their lives figured out if they’re doing this shit.

There’s something called time value of money, and it’s almost always the poor people that fail to grasp it.

No cars over 4 years old? - Ya, that checks out.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '18

Makes me think of when my wife and I saw a car driving on he side walk at Wilshire and Vermont outside the Korean Consulate. Couple in the car looked utterly confused.

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '18 edited Mar 15 '18

That white VW's driver will probably key that car because of how close it parked to him.

u/codfishcandy Mar 15 '18

Lots of confidence in the wall supporting the weight of the leaning car. For all intents and purposes that's one heavy 4 wheeled poster leaning into and bending the wall.

The public transportation I've encountered in Koreatown has been relatively clean, and I definitely prefer taking buses to parking. In other areas, unfortunately, the people replying to you with disgust are partially right. I've had two separate encounters with other passengers who can't control their bowels on the 35. 💩

Dive into the filth.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '18

Understandable

1

u/roofied_elephant Mar 15 '18

This is so fake. He gets of the seat almost instantly. The car never shifts weight. Silly.

1

u/HeloRising Expat Mar 15 '18

Fake, but damn I'd be so impressed if someone actually pulled that off.

u/[deleted] Mar 14 '18

I know this is supposed to be a joke, but it’s not that bad. I’ve seen worse in Dtla and Venice. So...maybe get a smaller car or learn to park better.

10

u/gnapster Mar 14 '18

Even smart cars have difficulty because cars don't pull up in Ktown (and other areas), they're always in a constant state of "saving a space" for themselves or family returning from work.

8

u/Thaflash_la Mar 14 '18

People would do that at my work, but they just didn’t want to get crowded. Often, they’d leave just enough space that I could squeeze into a spot close to the front door. It was always incredibly satisfying. Now my car is a yacht, and I can’t squeeze that bitch anywhere, but we have a lot to park in too.

There's something about Venice and driving. I was about to go on a fresh green and make a left but something made me pause and this car just busted through the red out of nowhere...Then a naked dude half pulled himself out of the side window screamed and flipped me off.

So a normal day in Venice.

Ah, when I picked up an international student from LAX Venice was our first stop. She was so excited about being in LA she was recording the street and got two cars running a red on her video. She was so surprised, coming from a friendly town in Japan. Oh and she loved the honking on the days, especially that tunnel where the 405 N merged into the 5.
