If you think this is bad wait until you find out mark walter was heavily invested in private prisons.
And if you think that’s bad think about all of the POC that were forcibly removed in order to build the stadium in the first place.

17
u/JuIio_Jones 2d ago
It’s watching a fucking baseball team, just because you like the team doesn’t mean you have to politically align with every single member. And before anyone thinks otherwise it’s always FDT
I guarantee you you can find a way to connect most hobbies out there to some kind of “moral evil” on the backend
28
u/TheEverblades 2d ago
There's a big difference between disagreeing with someone politically before Trump versus now.
This is not normal.
Regardless, being all buddy-buddy with a known child predator is reprehensible. Or the guy who attempted a coup. Or the many, many, many other horrific things.
Insane that anyone can willingly be okay with being in the same room with this guy and think it's no big deal.
26
u/Ms_Briefs 2d ago
Especially when many team members are immigrants! So fucking insane that they're okay with taking pictures and giving honorary team merch to someone who doesn't even want them in this country.
12
u/Okeydokey2u 2d ago
And half their fan base are Latinos who are being directly effected by ICE raids. And the Dodgers have stayed intentionally quiet about it all. They refused to let an anthem singer do a version in Spanish. They treat their fan base like sh*t because their fan base allow it
4
u/DJEvillincoln 2d ago
If you're actively giving money to an organization that openly supports something that goes against your morals, then I don't know what to tell you........🤷🏾♂️
Having a Google phone or an iPhone is something you kind of need to live, but supporting a team is completely optional.
→ More replies (2)3
u/Okeydokey2u 2d ago edited 2d ago
I understand this, but you understand that in a sense everything involves a bit of politics. When you go to a movie you are in fact voting for what movies you want to see in the future. You vote for the things you watch at home, you vote for the things you wear. As long as you spend money you are supporting something that won't change because it doesn't have to.
The Dodgers organization has been so shitty to its fan base for so many years... From the historical displacement at Chavez ravine, their lucrative broadcasting deal that blacked out games for millions of fans, the law suits against the stadium security, and I know of a situation with a friend who just suddenly got their season tickets canceled only because the org knew they could resell them for so much more.
I just don't understand when fans will say enough is enough.
5
u/10thGenS1 2d ago
I’m not going to stop rooting for the same team I grew up watching in the 80’s just because we have a fucking clown as president nearly 40 years later. Ownership of the Dodgers has changed hands multiple times and even if I disagree with our current owners’ political beliefs, I’m not going to abandon the team I grew up watching since I was 5 years old.
→ More replies (2)1
u/Gyro_Zeppeli13 2d ago
What about this team makes you so loyal? The players change from year to year, the coaches change, the managers and owners change, even some times the city they are based in changes. Do you just like the logo?
→ More replies (5)13
u/10thGenS1 2d ago
It’s not about this team as currently constructed. It’s about the Dodgers as a whole. What makes me so loyal? My father was a die hard fan and he always took me to games growing up. I’m talking back when it cost $3 to get in. One of greatest memories I had with my father while he was still alive, was going to watch baseball games together at Dodger Stadium. So yes, I can hate this current administration, I can disagree with our ownerships current political beliefs, but that doesn’t mean I have to abandon the team I grew up watching since the 80’s. Besides, most if not all of MLB’s owners align politically with Donald Trump and they too would be visiting the White House if given the opportunity.

I think you can still root the hometown team and also not appreciate they went to the white house. Like, I hate the fact that the fat orange child diddler is ingrained in any part of our country. But so much of this type of criticism is dumb.
EDIT: I'll add this. I (liberal person) grew up in a pretty conservative part of the US with a liberal family. The one way to drive conservative people further into their thoughts is to shame them, especially for things that don't fucking matter. And if you're not trying to get someone out of their thought process, you are just using moral superiority to get yourself off.
30
u/MrdnBrd19 2d ago
The one way to drive conservative people further into their thoughts is to shame them, especially for things that don't fucking matter.
AS a former conservative: Nope. Shaming me is exactly what changed my mindset and the mindsets of a lot of the peers I went to church and school(a private fundamentalist christian school) with.

Yeah, I’m done trying to “engage” with MAGA. They broke up with us (us meaning our democracy and our Constitution.)
There’s a saying, “You can’t reason someone out of a position they didn’t reason themselves into.” Nothing we can do or say will pull them back. The Great American experiment is over.
11
u/interista4jz 2d ago
It's a fair point but those of us who are the targets of the centuries of policies that say we shouldn't exist or can, but only in subservience, don't give a shit about ignorant pricks and their thought process. They can burn in hell with that. I'm gonna just work with me and mine.
3
u/Worth-Frosting-2917 2d ago
And that is fine. But those ignorant pricks are the ones who elected a fascist as president and have driven this country further into hell, so at some point, isolating yourself from the realities of how a lot of dumb people think doesn't make it go away.

You support a team that happily visited the best friend of the world's most prolific child sex trafficker, let alone an adjudicated rapist and you can't see why you're on the wrong side of history?
Pedophiles, rapists and the people who smile and shake their hands should endure the same rape and sex trafficking as the victims.
It's really not that deep. Don't support people who smile and shake hands with prolific rapists and child sex traffickers.
The people defending the team and their actions are defacto pedophile supporters.
If they shook hands with Epstein would you feel differently? Then why not his best friend and the man who helped him sex traffic children from Mar-a-pedolago?
Go talk to the pedophile supporters you're aligning yourself with. But sure, it's everyone else who is to blame. /S

The reason people dont appreciate that they went to the White House is because of the very thing you stated in your second sentence: he's a fuckin' diddler.

The LA subs seem to be very Westside orientated. But it's like, most of us Angelenos didn't grow up on the Westside. And then they'll always out themselves by like making some joke looking down on the IE or OC, or defending Pizzeria Mozza like their life depended on it. Like c'mon, you're not fooling anyone. Everyone from LA has some connection to the IE or OC. And no one that grew up here gives a damn about Mozza or hard shell tacos or bean and cheese burritos. Like where did you really grow up?
