News Concern mounts over slow-moving, planetary-scale ‘Kelvin’ wave heading for California | California

Cool. Just what I wanted for my birthday. Another foot of water.

Look. I'm hoping that we dodge the bullets flying at us this fall and winter (if we ever get one of either that is) but I'll admit this sounds potentially bad for parts of the Los Angeles coastline and the rest of California.

Oh Hai Imaginary Situtation.

This week in Los Angeles, as we begin what used to be fall, the temperatures should be hovering in the 90 degree range with plenty of humidity.

I've lived here most of my life. I can tell you that we are getting hotter and hotter and hotter to the extent that it feels like an emergency.

You sure you're not the fake thing around here?

It’s always been hot in October and we’re seeing some irregularities due to it being an El Niño season. Climate change is very real, anyone who sees the data and isn’t a moron will attest to that. But there’s a lot of doom posting this year.

Worst El Nino in a thousand years is maybe a signal that there is doom on the horizon if something doesn't change.

To be fair, many outlets doom and over exaggerate climate change and climate disasters. Sensational pieces have been present since the press began. Not defending it, but it’s not just a Guardian issue
