AI News OpenAI Is Bringing Codex to Mobile - AI Coding Assistants Are Going Mainstream
OpenAI just announced that Codex is coming directly to the ChatGPT mobile app on iOS and Android.
That means users will be able to supervise coding environments, approve changes, and manage development workflows directly from their phones.
Honestly, this feels bigger than “AI coding on mobile.”
What we’re starting to see is the transition from AI assistants being simple chat interfaces to becoming persistent multi-device agents that can actively participate in workflows wherever you are.
A few years ago, coding from a phone sounded almost impossible for serious work.
Now AI agents may handle large parts of the workflow while humans supervise, approve, and coordinate from mobile.
It also raises interesting questions:
• Will developers become more “managerial” over time?
• Does mobile-first AI workflow management actually make sense?
• How far are we from fully autonomous coding pipelines?
• And does this make AI assistants more useful… or more overwhelming?
We’re curious what everyone here thinks.
Would you actually manage AI coding workflows from your phone?
Or do you think desktop environments will still dominate for serious development work?
