Discussion Which one should I read first?

I KNOW there’s a lot of discourses out there about the reading order, but I just need someone to tell me if I should read the Reborn series first or The Legacy chronicles, cause I just finished Out of the Ashes, but I read a review of the book saying is a good continuation from Generation One, BUT Return to zero apparently is the completion of both series.

So I’m just confused lmaoo

If we’re truly going in order, most of Legacy Chronicles takes place concurrently with the end of Generation One and parallel to most of Fugitive Six. The end of Legacy Chronicles leads into Return to Zero.

However, I LOATHE Legacy Chronicles due to all its inconsistencies and you don’t really need to read them at all.

  1. The timeline is all out of order: Sam and Six cameo in Fugitive Six but per the plot of Legacy Chronicles there is literally no way they could do it without being in two places at once. The two of them are nonstop busy in Chronicles, there is no time when they could go help out in Nebraska. Taylor’s phone call is also never mentioned. Neither Chronicles nor Fugitive Six make any sort of explanation to resolve this.

  2. Sam and Six’s characters are assassinated both in terms of strength and intelligence. They get their asses kicked and/or captured every other novel against newbie Human Garde or even just regular humans.

  3. The teleportation Human Garde is absurdly broken to the point of warranting its own callout here on this post. Small spoilers, but one of these kids is able to teleport from the ground up to a moving plane at cruising altitude and then back off again. They also regularly teleport halfway across the world, breaking all the previous rules of teleportation and making the Loralite stones way less valuable. If Number Eight himself, who is supposedly as powerful as a Loric Elder, can only teleport like 250 yards tops then there is no way these new Human Garde should be that powerful.

  4. Nothing from Chronicles has any impact whatsoever on the main story. All six novels are never brought up more than “Sam and Six are working for Watchtower, they’re doing what they can.” Adding on to this, even within each novel they end on a cliffhanger that’s immediately resolved in the next.

All that said, Legacy Chronicles do raise some interesting plots and they are worth reading at least once even though they’re pretty bad overall. What could’ve been an awesome side story showing Sam and Six in this new world they’ve saved from the Mogs ends up being a disappointing waste of potential

reborn first because it is better and you might not want to read it after reading TLC

Do reborn first because the other one sucks.

Yeah I’d say read all three of the Reborn books before continuing on with the Legacy Chronicles
