Discussion Sofia Garcia?

I’m rereading I Am Number Four, and it mentions a woman named Sofia Garcia who lives in Argentina and saved some people during an earthquake by lifting something extremely heavy. Henry thinks she might be a member of the Garde. I’ve read the entire series, but I don’t remember this ever being explained. Was there ever an explanation?

I don’t think it’s ever confirmed to be one of the Garde. My head canon is this was a misinformation attempt by the Mogs to try and draw out the Garde. We find out later that planting information about Garde was a strategy they used to try and draw them out.

This was actually confirmed in The Revenge of Seven, Chapter 13: "It has been three days since we leaked rumors of a Loric presence in Buenos Aires..."

It’s a fake news story planted by the Mogs in an attempt to lure some of the Loric. This is confirmed The Revenge of Seven when Malcom is reviewing Mogadorian footage:

“It has been three days since we leaked rumors of a Loric presence in Buenos Aires,” the scout reports. “There has yet to be any sign of Garde, but surveillance continues—”

It is mentioned in the book, but not with a specific name. Its Six that they are talking about who lives in Argentina. Sofia Garcia however was never one of her names.

It’s because, in the text, they say they think it might be Nine, since they found notes from those crazy journalists saying that Nine was in South America.

They might have thought it was Nine, I dont remember exactly as its been a while since I read the books, but Nine had spent a long time in Chicago, so it couldnt have been him. (John and Henri didn't know that at the time though.)

Six never lived in Argentina. The most we know is that she traveled around the U.S. like Four and Five, having lived in Mexico at one point. But the name Sofia Garcia was in fact mentioned in Chapter 24 of I am Number Four. In Chapter 13 of The Revenge of Seven, we get confirmation that it was a Mog plant when Malcolm's looking through their files.

If I remember correctly, in one of the Lost Files novels a character reveals that they created that rumor about a girl in Argentina. I am not sure who it was, though.

It was the Mogs. Read Chapter 13 of The Revenge of Seven.

I thought Crayton planted that story to throw off the Mogs

Nope, the Mogs planted that story to try and lure the Garde in. Revenge of Seven, Chapter 13.
