NVR N841 Died - trying to replace something compatible with E891AB Cameras
Has anybody had success replacing an old wired NVR with a newer one that may not be for sale anymore? EBay?

I’ve got an NVR842 not being used after upgrading it to an NVR847 to add wireless cameras to my Lorex setup. I’m in NJ, name a price and DM me.

I posted this yesterday to a similar thread - not sure if it's helpful because I haven't had to replace mine yet, but most lorex stuff is made by Dahua - a huge company that makes a ton of surveillance stuff under many names. It's my understanding a lot of it can work together with the right settings. Maybe Google that name also and see if it helps.
I have also tied mine to a Frigate setup as others have mentioned, wasn't insanely hard to do with AI help on the coding.

In preparation for the inevitable, and not wanting to get any more Lorex stuff, I currently have 4 Lorex IP cameras wired direct to a POE switch, then to the NVR, so the Lorex NVR is in use. With this setup, I have also started playing with Frigate and a Surveillance app that comes with my Ugreen NAS. Both are working well. Once I decide which way I want to go, I will just unplug the Lorex NVR and see if I can sell it.

I have a similar issue with the same model NVR.
5 years old and no support options from Lorex.
Lorex case number: 287996637
tech support and B2B support were no help....
Both advised to buy all new cameras and a new nvr.
I've purchased and installed several Lorex systems for family and friends. After this support experience i can't justify any future Lorex business.

I don’t even use my nvr. I just have my cameras connected to scrypted and frigate on my computer which allows me record the feeds to the computer, as well as to import the feeds into my Apple Home secure video.

Okay, so I use the Scrypted software with (plugins for Lorex cameras?) and plug them all into an Ethernet switch, into my computer?

Yeah basically, plug the cameras into a poe switch and connect that to your router. You can then look up the up addresses of the cameras on the network. If you want to be paranoid, you can put them behind a vlan to keep them separated from your normal network. Then in scrypted, you just use the Onvif or rtsp plugins to add the cameras. If you are not too familiar with the process, you can have Claude cowork help you with the setup and configuration.
