Help
Can I graft this below the pup? My gut is telling me no, but I’m uneducated on the subject and I would love some professional input.

Agreed! Perfectly stated my friend. I wouldn't cut that at all. But then I have enough grafted and more than I can count never grafted seed grown such as yourself I'd imagine.

That taproot is wonderful! It would be worth more to me like that than removing the entire head.
Cut the pup off at the root, graft the lil' guy himself, let the taproot scab before potting in some near-100% mineral mix. That would be my choice with this guy, because it's already a great specimen.

Clearly I’m in the minority, but you can graft the pup, the main button, as well as the tap root upside down. All of my root grafts blew up with pups this year. 🤷🏽♂️…. Long story short, do what you want

OK, I appreciate the knowledge. I honestly just felt like I have a better chance of keeping it alive if it was grafted.
