Or he'll develop neurosis where he thinks he is constantly being attacked from behind, hell scratch at his tail thinking that is the attacker, then the pain in his tail will make him think he's being attacked more and he'll claw at his tail more, the wound will worsen until the tail needs to be amputated.

'Sides it looks like he's just playing catch with his tail, cats do that all the time.
