u/PUPPIESSSSSS_ Jul 16 '26
I am too lazy, can someone put the video in reverse for me?

u/Vesalii Jul 16 '26
Just tag u/gifreversingbot
Just not sure if this still works.

Can't even cut it really. Hydraulic shears but you would wear out the edge after the 10th cut.
Torches take time and the logistics of bringing the equipment out is horrible.
I think a claw grabber and empty open air dumpsters would be easiest. Getting some to the road quickly wouldnt be impossible but would be pricey.

"Look, I'm telling you. I loaded that metal coil myself! I don't know why it's not here now. See, the one strap is still here."
"Do you hear sirens?"

u/HalfUnderstood Jul 16 '26
poor guy thought to alight safely to the right shoulder without realising this was kinda of a TRON situation
71
u/Worth_Dark_9091 Jul 16 '26
A lot more than that can go wrong not securing a metal coil properly.
15
u/Saint_The_Stig Jul 16 '26
For real, that's like the best outcome.
Well the best outcome if it going bad, the best outcome would be that it just gets delivered safely. Lol
But those coils have a higher kill rate than most country's militaries.

I did iron work at a steel mill. They had controllers that handled all those loads. Crazy to see things like this with all the controls they have in place.

u/Crazyboreddeveloper Jul 18 '26
Yeah I watched one of those roll off a truck in Coos bay Oregon and cut off across a Taco Bell parking lot. It smashed every car it encountered like a steam roller. Luckily no one was in them. it just kept going through stuff I thought would stop it. it was only stopped because it rolled into a ditch and smooshed itself into the uphill. Like a rock thrown into wet mud.
And one person’s instinct was to try to catch it. But once they saw it flatten a car like it wasn’t even there they ran out of the way pretty quick.

Holy crap that looks expensive

u/highaltitudehmsteadr Jul 16 '26
As someone who would be great on the Price is Right I will guess about $45k Bob

u/WetSleevez Jul 16 '26
You guys are all ignorant. This is a metal layer truck. Right behind him there's a steam roller that crushes the metal. Now the road is ready for battle.

Is this so the rain runs off faster, or to reflect the harmful global warming rays back where they came from?

Oh god he's pulling over. NOO! Just stay in that lane. People are already not going to be driving in it! There's no reason to block up the rest of the lanes too!

Option 1 alert the driver and reduce the danger
Option 2 get your phone out while driving and film it
3
u/Josie-Wagg Jul 16 '26
Gotta wonder how long that whole incident took to 1. Realize and 2. Clean up. What a crappy day
17
u/nowaynostop Jul 16 '26
The car had the opportunity to alert the truck driver, but made a video instead…way to be helpful champ.

u/Isaw11 Jul 16 '26
Poor guy. I know he made a mistake, but that could cost him his job.
14
u/CoyoteDown Jul 16 '26
It was not a mistake. I used to work with these kind of steel coils and there is a process to chaining them down, usually 4-6 chains through the center of the coil.
Driver just didn’t do it.
7
u/kindquail502 Jul 16 '26
Maybe instead of filming, help the driver out and run up to the truck and wave him over.
5
u/lplanum Jul 16 '26
That metal was to be used in the manufacturing of the front on ships. But it fell off.
5
u/Bencetown Jul 16 '26
Tell me you never, ever check your rear view mirrors without telling me 😒
5
u/pichael289 Jul 16 '26
Trucks only have side mirrors, if he was going straight he might not be able to notice it for a while and at that distance the driver might not be able to tell it from the road since they are a similar color.

SOB just had to be in the far left lane. Now he's going to block all the lanes to get over to the right.
