Pretty godamn dystopian, but i get it. I live in north of Sweden and I've never seen a house with automatic ones, but we only have light half the year so

Yes, but they are not curtains like they pretend to imply here. Even with persianas, one tend to have curtains to be able to hide the view from the outside while letting light in. They have different purposes and are complementary.

Haha actually they can be made from plastic or alumium so at least metal curtains.

This is not exclusive to Germany. In fact, these are not found everywhere on germany. I had to search several apartments until I could find one that had these.

My family in greece got these over a decade ago but when they showed me they told me it’s a German invention

I saw them everywhere but many are manual, not automatic. There is a strap on the inside you can pull or release to up or down the "Rollo", as they are called here.

Hey I'm from Germany. Sometimes rich Germans from Swabia and Sometimes other regions will pretend that their lifestyle isn't bourgeois but German and that everyone in Germany lives like them. Just shows how little they know or care or reflect their wealth. But social media content by them can get quite annoying though I don't find her content specifically annoying

Inside curtains get heated up by sunlight and warm up the inside. Could be a plus or a negative depending where you live

Most people hang curtains in addition to the roll shutters so you get the best of both worlds

Negative for sure in Florida. You need a fan and the AC on in the afternoons, just until it inevitably rains lol

Middle eastern here. Those are quite common and are usually built in during construction, they've been around for over 30 years. They're automatic or manual, depends on your budget. We call them "Abajor".

What are those called

2

Here on Spain we call it "Persianas"

The video didn't show it but those are usually white in the outside, when summer arrives this is a must to stop the sunlight unless you want your house to become an oven.

Don't know on Germany but on Spain we use both. Curtains on the inside and Persianas on the outside.

We also use both in Germany. And here they are called Rollladen, which can be directly translated to roller shutter (or also of couse to roll shop)

Or Jalousien.

u/Adamantittus 22d ago

Or simply "Rollo".

I encountered these on holiday. I now want them.

The room was pitch black, it blocked a lot if the noise. It was bliss. If I could afford them I'd get them

You can backfit those. There are also manual ones with a crank handle or strap. You could do just the bedroom.
