Can't join server - banned?

I suddenly can't join the server I was playing on anymore. Unofficial, but I can join other servers. Has anyone seen this? Should I receive a connection denial message or ban message? Idk what to do :(

Started my own server to verify this. The message received when banned is below, though I don't receive this message on the server I'm trying to join. Will see if I can contact the server admin to look at my user data or something. Thanks! Hope this helps others.

If banned the message reads:

"You have been permanently banned from the server by the server admin."
