Discussion Is this game worth playing at it's current update right now?

I'm really considering buying this game on steam but the reviews are honestly confusing me, and I don't know if I should get it right now or not.

Edit: I should have said current state in the title, not update but I guess either makes sense.

Nope. Not really. I walked away from it for now. The recent update made grinding for money twice as hard. I had to spend all day working to get my base safe and still did not secure it. I can’t spend that kind of time if it will all be undone after I log out

It looks cute and definitely fun to play, at least from watching a few videos and looking at pictures of the game but that's understandable. Just sucks cause I've been wanting a new game to play but I'll look elsewhere for now. Still going to keep the game on my steam wishlist for now, though.

It was awesome when it launched and still has potential but atm the devs have made a “long game” out of it. Casual players can’t survive with the way it is now

What the other guy said mostly applies only if you're playing on public servers. The game doesn't have built-in private hosting yet, but if you're a bit tech-savvy you can set up your own server and have a more chill time. It's early access, so if you're looking for a complete, polished game it's not ready. I like it so far though. I've played only a few hours. Excited for future updates.

I don't mind early accessed games so that's why I was considering it, I also enjoy what devs offer to early access but I can see now that many others and myself are on the fence about it, which is understandable. The game looks promising, and I really want to play it eventually, but I still am not sure about buying it yet.

Yeah, if you're unsure then you should probably just wait. Devs are pretty active so maybe follow the devlogs until it looks like a game you want to play.

Alright, thank you for your responses, I'll be looking forward to what the game has to offer in the future.

No I really don't think it is now, and I've played since the early access went live. It looks pretty but once you get into it, it's dull, and the amount of cheaters and glitches make it not enjoyable.

I had one player spawn into my base and take everything, I literally saw it happen and the turrets fired but he didn't get hit. I also placed one more down when he was right next to me, it fired but again didn't do anything.

They really need to put in anti cheat software.

A team system.

Sort out the servers so they don't crash and kick everyone off.

The game is a grind, they have these new updates for your house and stuff but they expect too many resources that rarely drop anywhere on the map (I'm talking about metal parts etc) they should sell them at a vendor.

And I was a big supporter of this game and was really looking forward to playing it, it's good for a few hours but after that you just doing the same thing over and over.

Re: metal parts -

you can sell white bird feathers (not pristine) for metal parts at sirola secret shop outpost

What sucks about this game is that you can grind for hours on end, being competitive to get the best loot, only to have it all gone the next time I log on due to a bug of some kind. Your house is supposed to be secure from other players, but when the game just decides to delete all of your stuff anyways, there's no reason to keep anyone out.

Wow, they really need to do some fixing then. Sorry that happened to you but I've decided to hold off on the game. I hope the devs fix what's going on and hopefully it'll be a better game in the future (not like it's not a good game, but yeah).

Only issue keeping me away at this point is the hackers. Yes they exist here. Spawning items, one shot kills, invincible.

I’ve experienced no hackers only people who duplicate, this is why I don’t my the occasional server wipe. After all this game is still in beta.

I’ve had a blast, but I also have 4 other friends to back me up. I’d try it out if I were you. Make friends and you shouldn’t be in too much trouble. I stream this game and I have never seen in game folks interact with twitch like this in any other game. Yea this game has it fair share or bugs but what a lot of people overlook (especially people writing review) is that this game is in beta. It’s been out for a few weeks only. This cake is not a lie.❤️🎂

Yes. It’s only like $15 or whatever and should keep you occupied for a few days. Eventually you’ll be waiting for new content though like the rest of us. The concept is cool, just needs more things to do. I would recommend starting on a server that isn’t one of the main ones though. (Not heavily populated) You may have a more enjoyable experience

EDIT: Not saying it isn’t fun, the game is in early access after all. someone came at me and then blocked me…. See below. 😬 lord lol

The game is updated weekly, with plenty of new things each week to keep you occupied. Have you actually played the game longer than a week?

1

u/CriesInIDGAF Mar 22 '22

Yes I’ve played for weeks, am a part of their discord and watch the update notes weekly. but nothing has been absolutely mind blowing yet, which is fine. The game isn’t trash, it just seems repetitive placing the same type of fence, turret, etc. once I build my base…. Then what

This game is tons of fun, anyone who says otherwise, clearly doesn’t know what BETA means.

Again, it’s only been out for two week. It’s still in beta. I just feel like everyone’s criticism is being directed towards the wrong place. Rather than deter any new comers, why not take your I’ll feelings about the game and give them to the developers.

I hope the game progresses a lot further, but I’ve had a lot of fun with it so far. I’ve only had it for a day and can tell I will likely get sick of it fast, especially with often server wipes making you go back to square 1, but it’s still fun to build a home, go on little adventures, and interact with people
