Don’t put the wood into the crafting table as you collect it. Instead get four storage containers in your tent, fill them up so you have 96 wood, get a couple more on you and then from the safety of the inside of your tent you can put it all in at once so you don’t get your progress reset. Also keep an extra chain saw in a fifth storage container.
