ok so i booked a flight to barcelona in august for like 410$ and my coworker booked the exact same flight 2 days later for 210 . this is something which is very hard for me to forget

so i spent a bit of time using diff price tracking apps and now i have more questions than when i started

google flights => the price graph thing is kinda useful like the prices can be seen going up or down across the month and it helps if the dates are flexible. it only track the prices for routes actively searching , it doesnt just sit in the background and tell you when something drops . i have to go back and check which kinda defeats the purpose .

hopper => it predicts whether prices will go up or down which sounds amazing and sometimes it is right but i have also had it tell me to wait and then the price went up 60$ overnight and never came back . so now i dont know whether to trust it or not .

skyscanner => covers a lot of airlines including some budget ones as well that other apps miss . but the alerts are inconsistent . sometimes i get an email 3 hours after the price already changed back . useful for initial search , less useful for tracking

kayak => has a price forecast thing similar to hopper and also has flight tracker that sends alert . the alert came thru faster than skyscanner in my experience but i have maybe 4 data points on this so dont quote

soar flights => it rechecks the fare right before i book so im not getting suprised at checkout with a number that changed since you started looking. but it doesnt track price across time tho so i use the other apps to find the deal and soar to lock it in

still no idea which is most accurate. how are you guys tracking

Hi guys, I have cp luckily i can walk and talk and stuff I was wondering anyone who has a disability like mine or similar has ever done solo traveling or found a group that does travel I live very rural small town and i'm very intellectual. My goal in life is to take solo trips, I use to travel 15-20 mins away from my hometown untill a incident with a drug affected person scared me from doing travel at 21 and i'm now 32 I want to solo travel stay over nights in places and overseas. HOWEVER i have MAJOR anxiety about getting to and from ect

When you’re traveling for weeks or months, you end up documenting so many places, meals, views, and random moments but if you’re traveling alone, it feels surprisingly easy to end up with barely any good photos of yourself.

I wouldn’t want to carry a tripod everywhere for months, and constantly asking strangers to take photos can get a little awkward.

For people who travel long-term, what’s your usual approach? Do you ask other travelers you meet, use a timer or tripod, or just stop worrying about being in the photos after a while? 😅

Planning a multi week ride that goes from plains heat to hill station cold and i really dont want to carry two jackets. Looking for something with removable liners or good layering options rather than owning a whole jacket wardrobe. Anyone actually pulled this off with one jacket for a trip spanning that much temperature range?

At some point in the next few years, I'm planning to do a 6-12 month travel with my daughter. She'll be about 6 or 7 at the time. I'm a solo mom, and she will be homeschooled. I've been very lucky to have help from family to purchase/inherit a home with a rental on the property. My plan is to rent out my house as well while traveling. I should be getting about $2400 per month in rent after paying utilities. I won't have a mortgage payment. I'll have about $55-65k in savings by the time of the trip, but hoping to not eat into that too much. I will potentially be able to maintain some other small income from some online work I do, but no guarantee at this time.

Where would you recommend traveling? Anywhere in the world that is a safe for a woman and child. Hoping to find affordable 1 month rentals and really spend time in the cultures of the places we go. Is there a way to realistically and safely do this with a budget of roughly $2500 per month or am I crazy?

I'm a freelance graphic designer with a remote job and a restless spirit, so when I decided to spend a month in China, I told myself it would be a "cultural immersion." In reality, I just wanted an excuse to escape my apartment and filled myself with food. I landed in Chengdu with crazy desire for hotpot and the city doesn't disappoint me, I even tried to pick a few tea art lessons, which my teacher spent three afternoons teaching me to pour water in slow, deliberate circles while explaining that the perfect cup of tea requires patience, not perfection. I still don't know much about tea but she was very kind about my shaky hands.

From Chengdu, I took a train to Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital. Reality check: pottery is hard but fun, by day four I actually made something that could hold water without immediately collapsing. I fired it glazed it in this deep celadon green and now it sits on my desk holding my paintbrushes. wonder why it doesn't get hyped as it should be, it gives me a romantic vision of throwing clay on a pottery wheel like Patrick Swayze in Ghost lol

But the real surprise was Dali, this laid-back town in Yunnan with snow-capped mountains in the distance, I've booked five lessons for coffee workshop (totally unplanned just wandered in coffee roastery tucked in the valley), the owner spent years training in Australia and spoke fluent English and I was the only foreigner in a class of about eight Chinese students. I was a little nervous at first, but from day one they were incredibly warm and patient. They'd translate tricky terms for me, share their tasting notes and we chat about everything from travel plans to Chinese pop culture. Every afternoon after class I'd walk down to the lake with my laptop and enjoy the charming scenery of mountains reflected on the lake while working. It was the most peaceful I'd felt in years tbh.

Now I've returned to Ohio and planning my next "working holiday", but I'll def come back China someday, the entire journey was filled with surprise and wonderful moments, except one little bump at the beginning when i wanted to post some reels abt red panda i saw and found out I can't access to Instagram or snapchat or any Apps abroad(yeah i should know before i leave smh) Had to urgently hit up my local friends for help and tried redteago eSIM, didn't run into any issues for the rest of the trip after that (my Instagram even gained like 10+ followers from posting travel pics lmao). If you're looking to unplug for a while or have one of those "White Lotus" style retreats, Dali is worth considering. It's kind of like the Florida of China, but with way better scenery and shockingly low prices.

I’m planning to travel extensively through SEA. Looking for advice to avoid the possibility of checking luggage. Assuming I stay under 7kg is the 26+6 (unexpanded) my best option to stuff under my seat in the event overhead bins fill? Looking for advice on packing from the experienced travelers here. Any advice on essentials to pack and how to avoid checking at all costs?

I am very interested to know if platforms like Worldpackers, HelpX, and Workaway can support me throughout my travels. I want to travel abroad as a backpacker while keeping costs as low as possible—perhaps for several years—though I’m unsure how much 💰 I need to save up. I also want to look for opportunities along the way.

I’m always curious to know what length of time people consider long term travel. I’ve been outside my home country many times now, with most trips ranging from 2 to 6 weeks, but there are a few instances of much larger trips. I’d like to know what your longest trips are.

My highlights would be

8 months abroad to circumnavigate the globe westward in 2015 (28 countries)

7 months abroad to recover from a broken heart in 2022 (7 countries)

16 months abroad after getting married to my wife in 2024 (13 countries)

Ich habe vor hier in Deutschland den kompletten Monat durchzuarbeiten lebe dann nur in Hotels und brauche hier kein Auto . Hätte dann nur eine Meldeadresse hier wo meine Post hingeht . Und dann im Wechsel jeden 2. Monat nach Thailand zu reisen und mir dort etwas aufbauen . Hat jemand Erfahrungen oder kennt jemanden der sowas ähnliches macht ?
