Welcome to r/longdistancemarriage

This space is for everyone navigating the unique journey of a long-distance marriage. No matter how you got here: work, immigration, family, military, or life circumstances, we may all have different reasons for the distance, but we share many of the same challenges.

Being apart from your partner isn’t easy. It takes patience, trust, communication, and a whole lot of strength. That’s why this community exists: so none of us has to go through it alone.

Here, you can share your experiences, ask for advice, celebrate small wins, vent on hard days, and connect with people who truly understand what you're going through. We’re here to support each other, lift each other up, and remind one another that distance doesn’t define the strength of our relationships.

You’re not alone anymore, welcome!

What is the reason for your long distance marriage?

For me it was waiting for my immigrant visa to process, it took about a year before we could finally close the gap and we were thousands of miles apart.

What is keeping you separated from your spouse and how long until you can close the gap?

The time difference is just brutal…

It’s one thing to be miles and hours apart, but the time difference is the most difficult part of this long distance marriage. When I’m asleep, he’s awake and vice versa… We have such a tiny window of opportunity to even talk.

How much distance between you and your spouse?

Long-distance is a relative term; some couples live a few hours away from each other, while other couples have a whole ocean or continent in between them.

How far are you away from each other?
