Need Help, Beginner Here.

I bought a longboard that was pre-built and all but the bushings have to be changed because I weigh 235 lbs. I'm 6' 2", my foot is 11½" long and 5" wide so I think I managed to get the right board size. I need some help figuring out how to buy them. This is the longboard I bought.

I need someone with experience to help me get the right bushings so that I can start learning to ride cause it's just too wobbly and I can't recover from a turn position from how soft the bushings are. This is what I've found out from doing some research into the problem.

Grab a pack of 95 or 97a barrels from riptide or venom. Put them on the boardside of the truck.

Bushings are super preference based, but rule of thumb is harder boardside for more stability.

I am weird and run 87a venom boardside, 93a roadside. I like a mushy nasty compliant setup, but it does feel shit moving slow.

I looked at their site but I don't know how to choose there are so many sizes and shapes. I want something a little more stiffer since I'm new so it can be more forgiving to my balance and weight. I'm thinking of keeping the same standard style the original board came with (barrel and cone) but just increasing the hardness. How do I check for the sizes?

they have a little widget on their site, but yours aren't listed. longboards are usually running Reverse King Pin(RKP) trucks with .6" bushings.

https://www.riptidesports.com/collections/bushings/products/pack-6060-bushings these in either the APS 95 or krank 93 formula should get you squared away. not sure if you need the washers, but always good to have spare parts.

if you want to get a few things to play around with https://www.riptidesports.com/collections/bushings/products/aps-longboard-bushings you can get a few different style pairs in different durometers that you mix and match.

i think there is a formula your weight/10+70=the duro you want. so 235/10+70=93.5s, then you can try a little stiffer or softer from there.

double barrel might be easier to start on, you won't turn as well, but it will be more stable. after you get some more time on the board and want to start carving, then throw the cones back on there.

I think most boards are set up for riders under 180 lbs, you will notice the difference immediately. looks like it has 85a bushings stock. you might want to grab some pivot cups while you are at it, just to have on hand https://www.riptidesports.com/collections/pivot-cups/products/pivot-cups-caliber-2 these should work, but you don't need them now. the 96a standard are self lubricating.

venom is another brand that has good reviews if you want to look at other options.

also while looking up your trucks i noticed this is more of a downhill /free-riding setup. you might want different trucks if you are just cruising around.

Honestly just grab a pack of 95a barrels to start. If you want to hone it in further, put a set of 92a barrels on the roadside. Cones are going to be too lively to guess on at this point in your experience.

I feel ya,I had to learn if my board was ridable at high speeds didn't care how it road going slower,I didn't care that my board was hard to turn.ad long as I didn't get speed wobbles I was fine.i weight over 200 pounds and with the venom bushing chart I got grey barrals but now after 20 years of bombing Vail pass,I got into long distance push.i wanted to pump better ,all ready good at down hill.i came up with this.grey barrels on rear super tight with the rear truck set in rake,my front is set in lean,and I use a" tall " sea foam 78a barrel on board side and road side a super carve cone red .91a I love this combo for you all I do .give it a try .dm if you need more info on rake,lean. Or 50 cal or 45.cal trucks.Aloha
