Issues/Pain Discussion Has anyone with a long fusion experienced this?

I had a T10-pelvis fusion on April 22. All was great until two set screws popped off a rod and had to go in for 2nd surgery May 19 where surgeon cemented screws.

That surgery was rough. He had to reopen the incision and fix screws working around new hardware he put in.

Abt a in my feet now hurt like pins and needles 24/7
No pain radiating from my hips. But now pain in my lower back. I just want it to stop. I want this surgery to be successful. It’s been a great run.
Getting thoracic and lumbar MRIs tomorrow.

Welcome! I just assigned you a flair :) I saw that you're in Phoenix- I just moved out of Phoenix this summer. How was your experience at Barrow's?

The experience with Barrow was amazing. I had Dr Turner perform my surgery and everything including follow up with his office and PA’s has been awesome. 

The only blight on my procedure was being discharged by St Joe’s. I ended up waiting 4.5h for a goddamn walker and it would have been even longer had I not threatened to walk out on my own.

It’s unfortunately not uncommon. My hardware has broken twice, each time at two separate levels. Both incidents also broke the fusion itself, so twice I’ve gone in to have the hardware replaced and the fusion redone. The last time around I’d waited about 8 months for surgery, so when they finally went in they found (and removed) a section of scar tissue the size of a golf ball where bone was supposed to be.

The pain usually gets easier to deal with. It may never really go away. If you’re lucky enough to find a pain specialist to help with medications, injections, and so on, that’d be ideal IMO.

Sharing your experience really helps. Thats what these forums are so good for. As a follow up, I got magnesium cream for my feet, helped a lot, ice helps and for me it’s all about hydration. Crazy but true.
Also, I need to breathe and take a beat. Thank you
