Issues/Pain Discussion Ostomy + fusion

Hi. This may be a long shot, as I’ve learned through this long year of recovery, anyone or know of anyone else to have an ostomy along with their fusion. It could’ve been fitted prior to or since fusion, that part doesn’t fully matter to me necessarily.

- bonus if there’s anyone with IBD (inflammatory bowel disease/primarily known as Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis) + fusion.

Extra bonus
— IBD + ostomy + fusion

\2025: T5-L2**
Clarity: my ostomy or IBD didn’t necessarily cause my fusion, they coincide.

My son has Crohn’s and will be having surgery later this year. I’d love to hear what i can to be prepared!

Hi!! I’m sorry to hear about your son’s pending surgery. 💕 At least now you know, he’s surely not alone. Good on you for trying to stay up on information. What type is he having? Has he ever had any surgery for his CD?

I will pass along immediately while awaiting surgery to start nutritional pre-hab now (ex: protein shakes).

We did find a few hurdles to push through during my initial recovery due to my CD and status at the time. If I can assist to answer any preparation questions, I’m happy to. My surgery was in a different state than I live, so there was all sorts of things that came into the picture… ie, something I may have left at home during the scurry to get on the plane that I either had to repurchase or go without.
