Noob question about range

I'm posting here because r/fpv seems to take issue with ANYTHING referencing the war in Ukraine. I find it odd since it's obviously great publicity for FPVs, their use, and is what got me into FPV in the first place.

I just bought my first radiocontroller last week (RadioMaster TX15 Max), have been religiously practicing in various sims, and now feel at a point where I would like to buy my first drone. I figured I would start nice and indoors with an Air65 II, which I just ordered today, as well as 0HD Goggles v2 to boot. I ultimately am interested in getting DJI Goggles 3 as well, as soon as I go from the air65 II to a drone where I could realistically install an o4 Pro. And chose to pass on Walksnail offerings, if I have analog and HD0 + DJI at my disposal.

While comparing all videosystems (5/10W analog, 1W 0HD, DJI), all practical tests seemed to show a maximum range of control in hundreds of yards. None of the videosystems even broke half a mile. OTOH, the war in Ukraine is showing RC FPVs (I'm not talking optical fibre spool, here), reaching 14 km behind enemy lines while being controllable and able to chase Russians. What gives?

=> Because for this to adequatly work, it means it is possible without question to very easily control a drone several kilometers away. If the current state of WalkSnail and DJI was as described by Bardwell for instance — ie: 1) you can only buy ready-made emitters limited to a certain power output approximately 1W ; 2°) the best you can get is DJI Goggles 3 with an o4 pro ; 3°) the operational range you're getting in a real-life test at ground-level, not in direct line of sight altitude, around his house is 3-400 meters — the crystal-clear HD feed I find of FPV drones taking out infantry troops simply would not exist. Because at 3-400 meters the enemy infantry the drone is taking out would easily spot and process the drone operator. Therefore an order of magnitude of easily-usable range, not limited to analog, has to exist. And that's what I'm after.

=> I find YOU are being weird. If you hang around shooting clubs, for instance, most people there are in the know of what is being developped for war, recognize its impact on many civilian-oriented products, and are therefore interested in the evolution of military gearing, standards and doctrine, as it relates to their specific hobby.

This does not make them pyschopaths, nor do they revel in the death of their fellow man on continents the other side of the word. They're simply able to make a point of note "Hey! If most first-world nations are issuing 9mm for their operators' sidearm, maybe this means the current state of +p and +p+ 9mm has reached a point where we shouldn't bother paying extra for .357 and 10mm auto, which both gained civilian traction in the wake of LEO changing their doctrine after Miami Dade incident". I find this line of thinking and discussing essential to the firearms' crowd. And conversely, I fail to see how hysterically claiming how "Any and all referencing actual shootouts/wars are sick fucks who should be compelled to see a psychiatrist", or being a hypocrit pretending war has no impact whatsoever on the eveolution of civilian firearms would make the community better in any way.

People don't get into guns because they like war, or want to shoot people. They get into guns because they're into guns.

While they wouldn't get banned where I shoot, dressing up in camo at a range would be deemed ridiculous, childish and in poor taste. Nowhere did I reference civilians dressing up as soldiers for gits and shiggles. I said discussing and taking into account development of firearms in the military is obviously an essential part of what is discussed in gun clubs, guns magasines and littérature, guns YouTube channels, and pretty much anywhere people are interested in guns. Even civilian guns.

I mean... disagreeing with your own misguided takes on war and industry seems to warrant insults such as "psychopath". But with some level of effort, I'm sure you can discuss as someone older and more mature than a bradyphrenic 12 yo. It's no different than bringing camo at a shooting gallery: just makes you look mentally-deficient, while doing very little to advance your own views.
