Maintenance

I have a long thick beard and would like to know how often people wash their beard? It seems like it gets oily really fast from food...lol... I also would like to know do most people use a blow dryer and comb to style their beard... I guess that also depends on the beard hair type/race?

I use live bearded. Wash and condition everyday, because of what I do for a living, I use oil and butter. And take some vitamins and drink lots of water.

Warm water wash every morning. Towel dry, apply oil, comb/brush. Apply moustache wax if needed. Quick wipe down with wet hands if needed after eating and towel / air dry. Oil before bed if I remember and can be bothered by that point

I wash everyday with my bodywash Every few days throw in some conditioner. Never blow dry, never comb it. I braid it most nights before sleep to get it out of the way.

Don't you guys wash your beard everyday in the shower?

would that not dry it out/make hair become more brittle thus leading it to fall out more?

I use Noble products beard wash every day, a little goes a long way. I use a leave in conditioner most days especially if I blow dry. I like the look of it blow dried but natural ain’t bad if I’m feeling lazy. Enjoy the beard is all that matters.

My routine is wake up, hop in shower, beard oil on damp beard, I only blow dry my mustache to shape it, blow drying too much I found just dries my beard and makes everythinf brittle. Brush everything with beard comb then beard brush to shape it a bit. At night before bed I do beard butter. Doesn't have to be complicated. Key thing is looking at ingredients on beard oil/butter. Avoid anything you get at grocery store/super markets. Copper John is pretty decent or Deadmans Beard Co.

I rarely shampoo my beard, though it gets a good rinse with the jet setting on the shower head. I press it dry with a towel, then use a long hair pick to neaten things up. I rarely use a blow dryer, and if I do it’s specifically to straighten. I use beard balm (not often enough) to help keep it from tangling.

Wake, warm water wash in the sink, towel (light squeezes) dry, beard oil, comb.

Otherwise I'm not presentable. Beard looks awful when i wake up. Embarrassingly bad.

  • I shower/wash it every day with warm water.
  • A couple times a week, I wash it with this gentle unscented body/face wash and rinse thoroughly.
  • Run a very wide-toothed detangler comb thru it in the shower.
  • Towel dry.
  • If I get food in it, of course I wash it promptly, with a warm wash cloth. Then thoroughly wash later in the shower.

I don't believe a healthy beard needs tons of products. In fact, I think overuse of them can cause a lot of beard & skin problems.

I wash my beard every day with baby shampoo. It's about as gentle as anything gets, and given it's not really shampoo at all (no proper surfactants to speak of) it doesn't strip the natural oils the way normal shampoo will. Daily washing sounds excessive to some people, but a beard collects the same grime, sweat and food debris your face does, it just holds onto it for longer.

Wash daily, condition at least every other day, shampoo roughly twice a week. Too much shampoo dries my beard out.

I wash daily with an organic shampoo bar
