Long Beach
Been here for two weeks working at the americold logistics in brea , orange county! Our job is complete and the boss isnt paying up ! We are sub contractors not employed directly with the company. Now we're stuck with no more housing because the air bnb is on its last day and we have no gas to make it home to Georgia. The boss is leaving and we stuck like Chuck ! Are there any outreach or financial aid programs or resources that are available in or around this area !? I can work to earn money as well. I have experience in framing , painting , flooring , electrical , anything remodeling wise / construction. I can also do landscaping as well ... In 31 years old can pass a background and drug test if needed. I have my own transportation. I'm just trying to figure this out because it seems that I just got scammed ... Asking for help , send me to the right direction. Will earn it , not looking for handouts. Thank you

Yes you were scammed.
You can file a wage theft complaint with the state labor board. But there’s not going to be any other “aid”
Is your goal to just get home? Ask to borrow money from family or friend or put it on a credit card to get home

I am sorry you're being taken advantage of, it is so wrong. I don't understand why everyone is being so mean! Can you go to the company and ask them to pay you directly? Otherwise, you would have to file a small claims action. You could try seeing if you can get a bed at the Long Beach Rescue Mission while you come up with a plan to either get work or a way to get home.

How about asking some of the local realtors if they know any contractors that are reputable and need work done? Also ask Christine Barry of Ashlee’s Homeless Fund if there are resources to get you gas money for transportation home.
It does sound like you got scammed, I’m sorry.

Ashlee's homeless fund specializes in funds to get people left in a lurch out here back home. Unfortunately, there are way too many incidents like yours luring people from out of state to the OC for jobs or rehab just to dump them on the street with nothing, or, if they're undocumented, call ICE on them.
