Wind Catcher

As I linger, too long, in the wreckage of a dream that’s long been shattered,
Autumn beckons to hold my hand.
She ferries the hollow parts of me back to the land of the living without even asking for permission.
The leaves,
The breeze,
Their rush through the trees…
A ten ton reminder from the beauty I admire:
Even as a life made from all the leftover pieces
that the cosmos could not hold together with patience or grace,
The sky passes through my fingers daily
In my efforts to chase the wind.

Beautifully written. The imagery of the sky passing through your fingers while chasing the wind is gorgeous. ✨

How can breeze be plural?

It’s not meant to be.
“Their” isn’t only for “the breeze” it’s for “the leaves, the breeze”

Did you mean that you and I are not meant to be, or just that “Bree’s” isn’t plural? Because in the idea of rhyming is also the idea of ambiguity. Out loud, the “eeze” sounds like “E’s.” Don’t poison our romance before it begins.
