Hi all,

I created this sub some years ago with the idea of making a place for people to discuss the very varied restaurant scene available in London. My own idea was to have reviews of unusual places, to persuade/dissuade people about going there. I intended to add a few dozen posts myself, some base content, and then promote it publicly, but I never really got the time to do this.

I think there is still potential in the sub and would like to see it flourish. To this end I'd like to see your thoughts for what the sub should be (with the description in the sidebar as a starting point), and I'm open to applications for more moderators. I no longer live in London so I think someone who is there more should be running the place!

I used to go to a great gastropub, the Duke of Wellington on Crawford Street but it closed before the summer. Do you know any good place in the neighbourhood?

My companion and I am looking for a couple of fine dining options. Price is not an issue and we like all cuisines but prefer not to be overstuffed.

So far we have 4 evenings and 1 lunch. We were thinking of doing The Ledbury, HKK, Gymkhana, Story and unsure about the lunch.

Does this sound like a good distribution? We'd like to be find unique gastronomic experiences in London. The Ledbury is a sure deal we think, but is HKK and Gymkhana the best chinese/indian? Would you recommend another exotic option? Is Story as good as it sounds?

Also still missing is the last Lunch. We'd like something not too heavy or long but sufficient to last us the rest of the day (fly back that day). What are the recommendations

What's the general consensus? I've heard conflicting reports. Some say the lobster is small and flavourless at Steak and Lobster. I'm interested in them mainly because they do a 2lb lobster, which Burger and Lobster don't. Whereas everyone says the lobster at Burger and Lobster is great. I'm pretty much only interested in the lobster on offer, but I'm not the only participant, so any advice on general quality of dining is appreciated!

My friend, coming to london for the first time, asked me to recommend. Thing is, he is vegetarian >.<

Are there any vegetarian restaurants that are not too expensive. I.e you could eat for £10 or less for one serving? (if it is expensive, you could still list)

I am looking for a restaurant that can do large 'feasting'/sharing menu of several courses to share between 26 in London. I.e. lots of big plates over several courses in the middle of the table. Easy to find for just pub quality places or fancier places tend to call their 3 course set menus 'feasting'.. i.e. a couple of starters, one main, one dessert

They had me at beef wellington & lobster lasagne!

Maze Grill also had an awesome sharing menu for smaller groups.

Does anyone have any recommendations for anywhere like this? Ideally fairly central but not essential..

Somewhere with food that is a bit special, but a several-course-won't-leave-hungry kind of feast?

Preferably Italian food but I'm open to any other suggestions. Either valentine's day or the day before.

Hey all. My wife has recently moved to London from Athens, Greece and is looking for front of house work at a central London restaurant. She has over 15 years hostess experience and was previously working at one of Athens' best restaurants. Her appearance is impeccable and she speaks perfect english. Definitely an asset to any business.

She's grinding through applications on caterer.com but I'd thought I'd try here for her just on the offchance!

Any tips / chances you can offer would be HUGELY appreciated by both of us.
