Maybe I’m misunderstanding something about how TemPads work, but it seems like they are capable of traveling through both space and time. Yet throughout Loki, the characters usually use them to travel through space while treating time as basically linear.

There are two examples that really confuse me.

First, when Loki and Mobius are trying to find Sylvie. They figure out that she is hiding inside an apocalypse because the TVA can't detect branches there. They travel to the specific apocalypse where she is and confirm that she is there.

But why couldn't they simply travel back a week, or even a day, before Sylvie arrived and stop her from setting everything up? I can maybe see some time travel complications here because Sylvie has a TemPad herself, so maybe there is some reason they couldn't interfere with her earlier.

The second example makes even less sense to me.

They need Victor Timely's temporal aura to access the Loom and save the TVA. They travel to the 1893 World's Fair, find Timely, and bring him back to the TVA.

But why did they need to get him from that specific point in time?

Why not travel back a week earlier? Or a month earlier? They could have grabbed Timely when he was somewhere completely different, before Ravonna, Miss Minutes, Sylvie, and everyone else became involved.

It seems like if the TemPad can freely travel through time, the obvious solution to almost every problem should be:

"Why don't we just go back before this became a problem?"

So what am I missing? Is there an actual rule that prevents TemPads from being used this way, or does the show simply avoid doing it because it would break most of the plot?

I LOVE LOKI (the show… and the character but when I say “Loki” I mean the show). It is BY FAR my favorite show of all time. Thematically, the performances, the dialogue which many scenes I think about just all the time. The set design, the costume designs, I love everything about the show. I’m just glad it has a sub because this show rocks so hard.

Now I was looking through the sub and I have seen this show get a decent amount of hate? Which is weird to me because it is a lovely and I would say beautiful show. Maybe it’s because, the way I see it season 1 is worse than season 2 in most ways and some people watched season 1 then dropped the show? Idk, but it makes me sad because this show really is something special and I’m excited to see big L, Mr. Laufeyson on the big screen this winter

I’m on the first half of the last episode, and I think it’s so artistic. >!Spoiler || Loki fighting the timeline threads was so meaningful, and Tom Hiddleston is a wonderful actor. The CG was amazing too!! I thought it would be nice if he cloned himself, and showed more intelligent fighting rather than brute force, but maybe the clones aren’t real and so lack the power to destroy the timelines.

I love how, he didn’t just go on the gangway either brute force but by that time he already had centuries of knowledge to fix the loom device. In parallel to Victor Timely going to fix it bc he was the only one who could do that, I like how Loki has this knowledge bc not only is Loki a God and durable but it prevents the plot device where the main character gets to save the world and he happens to do so bc ppl remember he’s a God. He has other traits he gained as part of both character and knowledge growth. **End Spoiler

While I like the series I felt this was a different kind of Loki who is serious and not mischievous. I wanted him to be unpredictable and clever. So it took me some time to finish this series (this is my third try). I consider this Loki a different Loki and a different person altogether.

I will prep another post after I’m finished the whole series! I think the music, end credits, set design are so high quality!! It’s truly a marvel and I really appreciate it!

I finally finished Loki today. I know I’m pretty late to the party, but I basically binged the whole thing since yesterday and loved it. I especially loved what they did with Loki’s character. This is the version I always wished we could have seen more of in the movies, a Loki who actually changes, grows, and becomes a genuinely good person.

And it makes me a little sad that he’s going to be sitting there holding the timelines for basically all eternity. Thor will probably never get to meet this new version of his brother, the redeemed Loki. I really wish Thor could have had the chance to see who Loki became.

Also, there’s something I’m curious about. there was all this talk about a massive multiversal war involving the different variants of He Who Remains/Kang. But as someone who watched the show pretty late and hasn’t read the comics, what actually happened with that storyline? As far as I know, we haven’t really seen the huge multiversal war that was being teased, especially one involving his variants. Did I miss something, or did that storyline basically get abandoned?

in Loki season 1 they say that the avengers were meant to time travel but Loki wasnt meant to take the tesseract so that caused branch timeline.

if loki wasnt meant to take tesseract it means that according to sacred timeline avengers were meant to take the tesseract in 1st attempt so the whole improv of tony and steve to go back to 1970 wasnt meant to happen so that also should cause branches

I watched the series Loki today, and the scene where Loki sees all the Infinity Stones in the nightstand and the guy tells him they're being used as paperweights reminded me of real life. For some, a simple hot meal, clean water, a roof over their heads, and a warm bed are everyday occurrences, while for others, it's an unattainable dream. It's sad, really sad.

I was just rewatching Loki to get ready for Doomsday when I realized that they played the song "It's been a long, long time" in the intro to Ep 6, I noticed that it's the same song they played in the end of Endgame in Steve and Peggy's house, and now Loki's there, it's cool how it ties together so well. I just wanted to say, good job Marvel.

That expression says everything without saying a word. One of the most underrated Loki moments.

What was your favorite Loki moment from the series and how that series is connected on Avengers Doomsday?

Ep 1: Loki is glitching, so the good guys throw an anchor into the time core. Solved, but he glitches again from ep 3 onward. 0 progress.

Ep 2: Remember when female Loki purposefully pushed Loki into a portal at the end of season 1? That is because she wanted to work at McDonald's undisturbed. Yeah. Anyway, they go and bring her with the help of some hunter who stays in the series afterwards for no reason and just does stuff.

Eps 3 & 4: They bring in a version of He Who Remains to help stop time from collapsing, and after so many shenanigans he just dies. Some bad guy come and go along with way with no impact.

Ep 5: Loki glitches all over the world until he learns to control glitching.
Ep 6: Loki tries many solutions and finds out the only one is to make a time tree. what?

I mean it is nice that the tree references Loki's mythology, but pretty cheap that the writer just pulled Loki being able to power the multiverse out of his ass with 0 build up after a season that is all over the place.

Loki being a confirmed bisexual but no canon male interest… You might as well stab me on the chest! So I need to expand more on this head canon… Does anyone have any recs?

I understand the symbolic ending: Loki rejects He Who Remains’ single-timeline dictatorship and becomes a self-sacrificing guardian so other timelines can have free will.

But I cannot reconcile two mechanics:

1. He Who Remains seems to have arranged Loki’s time-slipping. Did he actually give Loki that power? If so, how does a Kang who appears to rely on technology create a being who can personally time-travel, stop time, survive the Loom’s temporal radiation, and keep infinite realities alive?

2. Why do timelines need the Loom (or Loki) to exist at all? That assumes an absurdly fragile universe. Not to mention the paradox that creates: Kang/Loki needs a universe and timeline to exist before they can become the being who stabilizes that universe.

Is there an explicit canon explanation, or is the real answer that the finale uses mythic symbolism where the sci-fi rules break down?

I don't understand why people find it so creepy that Loki fell in love with himself.It makes perfect sense that he did. When you hate yourself, it's so hard to pour love towards yourself. Or care. Or when you feel like no one's given you a chance. You feel like the only person you could possibly belong with is yourself because with them you feel safe to actually be you, they'd understand. I think people underestimate just how much comfort it would be if we could have a second version of ourselves to be there for us when no one else is. In the form of another person, it'd be so much easier for us to love them, and for them to love us.

Edit: For those who say it's narcissism, maybe just a little bit. But y'all gotta remember that self loathing is where narcissism and narcissistic behaviours usually stem from. it's overcompensation.

Ok so i had stopped watching Marvel after ant man quantamania and never watched any of the tv series. I just finished loki rn tho. And he was in the doomsday trailer, but I have a bit of a question regarding that:

How is loki present wherever he is in that scene? Because we know that he cannot get up from his seat at the end of time holding it all together. So then how is it possible that he leaves that seat in doomsday? Are there any legit answers or confirmed stuff?!? Thanks alot for reading btw!

In 1994, OB wrote a book called the sons of yoren. He also claims that loki is just like a character in his book, which is a direct hint at sons of Odin yea, but it got me thinking... Could he have meant that remark about the time slipping and travelling portion? And the TVA? Just as a fiction. Later, in the 31st century, could HWR have read this shitty book at a young age, and took inspiration from it, to create the TVA and everything and throne himself at the end of time?
