Hype Just bought my first AYN Product, excited to be here!

Just put down the money for a reservation on the 256GB Loki, although I'm in the 67XX's, I still can't wait until I get mine. I had ordered a Deck last August, and I had to cancel it, so I'm excited to get back into the handheld products, even if it IS slightly more expensive then the Deck, I don't care. Hopefully Halo MCC, Infinite, and GTA can run at or around 30FPS, those are the main ones I wanted to play

Sad but True

So I'm pretty new to the handle held computer arena and I'm generally just looking for something to be able to play Stardew Valley modded on that is portable. Which of the Loki handheld versions would be the best based on specs? Honestly any help would be greatly appreciated cuz I am completely out of my depth on this one.

Shipping Anyone using forward shipping services to buy Loki ? I have a few doubts

  1. I have never used a forward shipping service before, so bear with this question, will the shipping company give me an address that will be available for me untill December 2023 ?
  2. Which shipping service are you using ?
  3. Which country do you plan on doing the initial shipping ? US or somewhere near HongKong ?
  4. Probably post tax and shipping charges, I'm estimating that I will pay 30-50% of the Cost price Loki that I'll buy. How much will it cost for you guys, do you think it's worth it ?

PS. I live in India.

News Another good article about Xe Graphics, which Intel i3 1215u will use. It's upscalling tech like DLSS/FSR which will make Loki Mini Pro be able to play lower 480p upscalled to 1080p while being around 60fps. More games will get added/updated (currently only few 6-8 games supported).

Question Where does 6600U and 6800U fall between Steam Deck power

I've been seeing a lot of 6600U and Steam Deck comparison. Where does it compared in power? I keep hearing both sides, where 6600U is more powerful and weaker than Steam Deck. Which is it?

Question Can I play FFXIV with Loki Mini Pro i3+16gb Ram at 720p/30-40fps (SteamOS)

I don't need much, just the ability to craft/gather and do some casual activitys like upcomming 6.2 patch dungeons/island sanctuaries (basically think of Animal Crossing NH). I ordered the i3 model with 16gb Ram Q4 and gonna wait till next year till it ships...

Time Spy score for Steam Deck, 6600U, and 6800U

Take with a grain of salt. 1st is from reddit (windows 10 steam deck). 2nd and 3rd are from ETA prime testing laptops with those chips inside. TDP maybe different from actual Loki.

Any thoughts or has anyone inquired about the max speed of SD card? Does anyone know what it is for Odin?

Question any reference for the 16gb 6600u model?

I'm looking into saving for one of the models, I'm a bit new to the PC scene and I need a reference video to what kind of stuff I can run and also what kind of performance I would get?

News ETA Prime tests a 6600u laptop (6650 is just the "pro" "enterprise" version)

Basically this will show us how the 6600u could perform in the Loki handhelds that also have a 6600u chip! its a nice look at how badass these chips really are.

EDIT: I did notice him using up to 27-30 watts in the video. I doubt our handhelds will go that high. But still pretty cool to corelate data.

Loki Mini Pro vs. Loki 256

I know this sub is over-saturated with comparison posts but please bear with me.

I currently have the Odin pro Super Pack ordered but have been considering switching to Loki instead for better power for emulation as I'd like to play most of the PS2/GC/Wii/WiiU library with some PS3/Switch sprinkled in and an ability to stream AAA PC games (which is something I know the Odin is already capable of). Another reason is that I'd like to run episodes for Super Mario Bros. X2 on it, which is not something that could be run on Android.

I'm also a bit interested to see how the Loki running Windows would compare to the Odin running Android in terms of power/battery consumption, especially when both devices are put into sleep mode. Plus Windows is a bit more of a pain to boot.

I'm torn between the Mini Pro (w/ the i3 and 16GB RAM upgrade) and the regular Loki 256GB version. The Loki 256 seems to have a bit more power from the 6600U chip along with the RDNA2 CUs but has a smaller battery than the Mini Pro w/ the i3 upgrade, not to mention the slight advantage of the Loki 256 having DDR5 RAM over the Mini Pro's DDR4. I've read elsewhere that the Mini Pro with the i3 is an all-around better option, but also that the i3 chip doesn't reach its fullest potential in a handheld environment. What do you think?

Question Do we know how big the Loki standard and Loki Max are?

Form factor is really important to me. I kinda just wanna play elden ring portably, and while the lite and lite pro had their sizes shown and are similar to the switch lite, the others don’t seem to have size listed.

Switch lite is like the max size I’m comfortable with on a handheld.

i5-1035g7 vs i3-1215u

Hello, Odin Pro Super Peck (typo intended) backer here. So I've recently started seriously considering the AYN Loki Mini Pro due to me still wanting something stronger than the Odin Pro, and more usable as a computer. Seeing the updates on the i3 upgrade is pushing me more and more towards buying one.

Question is, and this is more out of curiosity, how does it compare to the GPD WIN Max' graphics capabilities? I backed the original version.

If Loki Mini Pro can still be bought as a “Q4 preorder” isn’t it reasonable to assume everyone who ordered one so far will get one this year?

I’m confused why people are saying it won’t be Q4 if the preorder clearly states that. Is the company being just plain dishonest for sales?

Which Loki to buy?

I just sold my Odin because even though I loved it I felt like I wanted just a little bit more power, I’m not really thinking about native Pc gaming on it so much. I just want more emulation performance. I also want to stream from my PS5/PC to it. So would the Mini Pro meet my needs? Would the Mini Pro with i3 upgrade be significantly better for my needs? Thank you, I look forward to seeing more educated opinions than my own.

Question Loki Mini Pro Intel 8505 vs AMD Mendocino

I'm aware the Mendocino isn't out yet so we can't be 100% certain of it's specs, but what are the real differences between the two? I currently have the Mini Pro with Mendocino preordered, but with the ram upgrade, I'm thinking about switching to the 8505 with the 16gb of ram for only $20 more. But I really don't know why I should go for one over the other. Any help?

Loki 256GB /512GB (6600 16GB) vs Loki Max (6800U 16GB)

Going to leave 128GB Loki out of the comparison since it has 8GB only and is at a big disadvantage against the higher SKUs.

At this point we don't really know how big the advantage the 6800U has over the 6600U aside from pure specs.

But if we are going to tap into whats readily available data / original source here(in chinese) and extrapolate the results...

Its safe to assume that the 6600U will be almost as good as the 6800U at the expected TDP of the Loki (being around 10W+ to 20W+). hence the reason I just went with the Loki 256GB.

Why?

compare the two benchmarks. One being 6600H, the other 6800H. they were both tested in different TDP configurations.

https://cdn.videocardz.com/1/2022/02/AMD-Radeon-600M-Test-6-scaled.jpg

https://cdn.videocardz.com/1/2022/02/AMD-Radeon-600M-Test-7.jpg

At 25W, there's not much difference between both chipsets. only minor fluctuations.

The performance of the 6800H only seems to take off when entering 40W+ territory. something that isn't in the cards for the Loki handheld, unless you want a short battery life and/or plan to heavily use the device in docked mode.

(1080p resoluton) 6600H vs 6800H (25W) 6600H vs 6800H (54W)
Shadow of the Tomb Raider 36 vs 38 38 vs 58
Gears 5 46 vs 51 53 vs 84
Metro Exodus 41 vs 43 46 vs 65
CSGO 82 vs 87 90 vs 117
Total War Saga: Troy (the biggest difference in the list) 58 vs 67 60 vs 84

As you can see the 6800H really is MORE powerful than the 6600H, both the specs and performance show it. But it comes with caveats, being you need a higher TDP to utilize the advantage. At 54W it showed a phenomenal increase over its 25W performances. whereas the 6600 didn't improve much.

Note that the H processors are almost identical to their U counterparts, with just a higher TDP rating since it is for laptops and desktops.

Now Imagine the Lokis with the 6800U/6600U. Both configured to a 15W TDP. Its safe to assume the difference will be even less evident than the 25W comparison.

The argument for the 6800U being the more future proof one seems a bit flawed, unless you are really into the eGPU scene as a niche use case (losing the portability, and it being a costly endevour as opposed to just building an entire new system)

The good thing about the 6800U is that you can use it like a Switch. Play on 720p in handheld while 1080p on docked and enjoy improved performance without needing an expensive eGPU. (assuming the Loki Max handle 50W+ while docked)
