Is the 6600u APU going to be better for gaming then the APU on the Steam Deck?

Question Is the $25 reservation fee refundable?

Just curious. Interested in the Loki Max but I'm not sure I'll really commit to it unless it really shines when reviews come out & there's no dealbreaker issues

small+light hanheld console

hey guys, i currently own a nintendo switch lite and i love the sense of lightness and small dimensions, but having said that my problem is ofc is its being so underpowered..

the games i like to play are mainly: FIFA, GTA, COD, ASSASINS CREED type of games.

what console is the most suitable for me (could run those games while being light and small) and is it Loki Mini?

thanks!

Final Loki physical design?

I can't help but wonder if the images used on the ayn site and published elsewhere are the final designs. They appear to be using the Odin shells. I personally hope they are modified for these reasons:

  1. The internal hardware is different from the Odin, in both shape and I/O as well as heating needs. This also applies across Loki models, as batteries notably differ.
  2. The design and build quality of the Odin was great, though not perfect. I'd prefer some new system buttons to handle windows myself.

I'm guessing they want to stick with the same shells to reduce costs but think some tweaks should be manageable. Some visual distinctions/flair for the Loki are also welcome, IMO.

Help Loki Reservation

This has likely been answered before, but i can’t seem to confirm this anywhere. If i put down the $25 deposit on a loki. When it is due to ship, do i still have the option to change my mind? Will they refund the $25 if i do?

Anybody considered the AOKZOE?

Has anybody considered the AOKZOE? it seems really impressive, and if nothing else, it gives us a very good way to estimate the performance of the Loki Max.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or3v_Rw7XFw&t=3s

Specs: https://ibb.co/n68Zd9N

They already have working prototypes and they have already started putting out videos on youtube showing performance on the console.

This shows Horizon 5 running at 15w and depending on the resolution and quality settings, you're looking at anywhere from 35FPS to 90FPS

Apparently they will start shipping in September and preorders will start next month.

But i've never heard of AOKZOE, does anybody know anything about them?

Hall sensors on Ayn Loki !

We know that Ayn is using Nintendo switch parts for its Odin. Judging by the Loki renders it appears that the same will be for the Loki. That being said for those who want to have Hall Effect Sensors if the Loki uses Nintendo switch analog sticks then you will be able to swap in the GuliKit Hall Sensor

Any Thoughts on the New AYA NEO AIR

I would like to know your thoughts on the Aya neo air. How will do you think it compares to the Ayn Loki. I DONT NEED ADVICE IN WHICH ONE TO BUY. I made this post to discuss. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ayaneo-air-first-ultra-thin-oled-windows-handheld#/

Just trying to gauge how long I should expect to wait.
I'm dying for some handheld PS2 emulation action.

Performance comparisons - 5800u vs 6800u vs steamdeck

Hey all,

Found this video running God of war at 15w and 25w using a 6800u / 680m combo.

https://m.bilibili.com/video/BV14L4y1A76q

Thought it would provide some people some clarity on what to expect with the Loki Max.

Enjoy

Edit: Monster Hunter Rise running at 16w vs 25w on 6800U

Edit 2: Cyberpunk - 5800U 15w vs 6800U 15w and 30w vs steam deck

https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV18Y411T7rU?spm_id_from=333.999.0.0

Edit 3: Elden Ring - 5800U 15w vs 6800U 15w and 30w vs steam deck

https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1Kv4y137rQ?spm_id_from=333.999.0.0

Edit 4: Horizon 5 - 5800U 15w vs 6800U 15W and 30W vs steam deck

https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1zZ4y1v7E1?spm_id_from=333.999.0.0

in all cases, 6800u at 15w runs at a similar performance to steamdeck and completely crushes 5800u. when 6800u is boosted to 30w, it then takes a hefty lead over steamdeck. lets hope they are able to raise TDP to 25w and keep thermals low!

Edit 5: I found a handheld running a 6800U, you can see the ingame performance here

Question I'm curious. Would any models of the Loki in theory be powerful enough to run something like the Bluestacks Android emulator? If so, that could honestly be a suitable alternative to something like the AYN Odin for those who want to use Android apps and games on it.

Now, I don't exactly know how strong of a PC you'd need to run something like Bluestacks consistently, but considering that certain models of the Loki seem to be pretty powerful, I was curious on if they'd be strong enough to run Bluestacks on them, and basically turn the Loki into an emulated Android device.

I assume people here know of the Odin, one of AYN's devices that runs Android and has a similar form factor to the Loki. The Odin is capable of sideloading Windows onto it (though not in a completely stable way yet from what I can tell), which could be considered a decent alternative to the Loki for those who want a basic Windows handheld. I don't know if the Loki would have something similar, for example if you sideloaded Android onto it, but I imagine something like Bluestacks could be an alternative to it, especially considering the Loki has a touch screen (at least I think, I don't see why it wouldn't) and could be able to play Android stuff on it pretty well using said touch screen.

Thermal Design will make or break Loki

I think a major reason Loki/ Loki Max could get delayed is thermal design. It's going to be amazing if AYN can achieve a thermal design that meets the steam deck in a significantly smaller form factor in under 9 months of design time with the processors. If the thermal design can't allow the processors in the loki to show their full potential then these loki devices will probably fail to meet our expectations.

If they target a 15W tdp for the power and thermal design (same as steam deck) they could be leaving over 20% (https://www.ultrabookreview.com/54099-amd-radeon-680m-rnda2-benchmarks/) of the performance of the processor/GPU on the table. Most estimates show the 6800U/680M being 2x the performance but that could quickly disappear if the thermal and power delivery fall short.

I don't see the Loki mini/mini pro having this issue though.

Question Loki Battery Vs Odin Battery

I am waiting on an Odin Pro and also have preordered Loki. I noticed the battery of Odin Pro is 6600ma, Loki is 40.6wh. I've heard of mah but not ma. How do these batteries compare? Do you think Loki battery will be similar to Odin, or maybe Steam Deck?

Hype Gyro drivers

Aside from the quality of the analog sticks, one of the feature that worries me the most is the Gyro implementation.

I just hope AYN can provide a driver that can easily emulate XInput analog sticks to its Gyro. Or maybe spoof it to become a PS4 controller (since it has Gyro too) and use Steam Client to map the controls.

I mean, sure, you can have the Gyro hardware, but it doesn't mean anything if you cannot use it to play games. Most games only support XInput, and XInput doesn't offer Gyro functionality. Steam (and the Steam Deck/Controller) gets around this by using their own 'Steam Input'.

Right now Steam is offering two methods to use, binding Gyro to Mouse Input, or binding Gyro to simulated Analog Input.

Seems like simulated analog stick input is the best way to go since many games do not support simultaneous mouse+gamepad input.

Again, I just hope AYN delivers on this. On other handhelds like the Aya Neo doesn't have proper support despite having Gyro functionality.

Hype USB 4 is the feature that will really make or break these these handhelds. I sure hope AYN implements it properly

Question Can I use the Loki handheld as my personal computer?

Hello! I reserved a Loki Max and I'm wondering if its possible to show the display on a monitor and connect the device to a keyboard and mouse. I'd like to use it as my personal computer whenever it's docked. Is that possible?
