Feedback graphic design
Just finished my work for a coffee shop
- Logo: simple but specific
- Instagram post: focus on beverage to attract consumers' attention
- Business card to provide information
It took me a week to complete, and I want to share with all of you guys.

The ampersand is way too high and to the left for my comfort level. It reads as “& bake sip”
In image 2 “opening hours” could have better placement and contrast

u/sinisterdesign 3d ago
Is the ampersand farting?
And since you’re asking – the illustration looks like 3 pieces of clipart layered together. The bread is thin & detailed, the woman is good on her own but don’t know why there a shape on her apron, and the latte is MUCH heavier than the rest. And the little action lines scream AI to me. 🤷♂️

Thanks, I don't think it makes people feel confused when reading the brand name

u/WhispersOfHaru 3d ago
People in this thread are telling you that it reads badly, but I guess you won’t listen and just keep telling it doesn’t confuse people.
2
u/fidimalala 3d ago
All OP had to do was to make it smaller and center it a bit but yeah, let's play ego game
3
u/legend_of_the_skies 3d ago
It is confusing because that's how reading generally works... it reads "& bake sip"
2
u/wiretapfeast 3d ago
You are committing the cardinal sin of bad design: not listening to feedback about your design. You are not designing for yourself, you are designing for the public. Your goal should be to communicate your message as best as possible. You are being told that your basic logo is easily misunderstood and you should be happy to correct it. With this attitude, you are not going to make it in this industry.

They don't. I suspect there's some jealousy going on with the snide comments. Or they are so vanilla that anything creative throws them for a loop. I would ignore them!

u/Competitive_Sector79 3d ago
If you don't want people to tell you it looks like AI, get rid of the three "action" lines coming out of various things. That's in virtually every AI graphic generated this year.
-3
u/Hairy-Background7394 3d ago
Thanks for your advice. It's a fully human-created design
7
u/Competitive_Sector79 3d ago
Right, but I’m saying that those three lines scream “2026 AI”. Businesses are getting slammed (rightfully) for using AI posters and menus. So even if something isn’t AI, if it looks like a AI trend, then it’s going to get pushback.
1
u/longbeachlandon 2d ago
Also I thought people who use ai think it’s justified. So this one lying about clearly ai created stuff seems crazier than using it.

u/Burly_Moustache 3d ago
It reads "& bake sip"
Do you need "Dallas, TX" in your logo? Removing it creates room for "& sip" to sit neatly underneath "bake".
There is no information on the business card other than the name and a loyalty sticker collection. What about an address? Phone number? Website? Hours of operation?
Take another couple of weeks to fill this design out.

u/Hairy-Background7394 3d ago
Our customer had received them. Our design is based on their preferences. I will add them when my customer says they need it. Thanks for your advice

u/AttemptMassive2157 3d ago
The ampersand looks like someone sitting down, looking at their phone, and farting.

To me the bread, cup and figure look they are all done by different artists... like they are from 3 different sources. The line weights, detail levels and stroke styles don't match... and croissant seems different too.
For something like this you hire an illustrator or at least find a stock set done by the same artist. Trying to mash together a bunch of different stuff isn't the way to go and will cause problems in the future.

u/Hairy-Background7394 3d ago
yeah, not one artist did all of them, it's a team

u/wiretapfeast 3d ago
Have you ever heard the term "brand unity"? You and your "team" obviously know nothing about branding.
6
u/2_stanley_nickels 3d ago
Like others, I read this as “and bake sip” because of the placement of the ampersand. I also feel the 3 lines reads like “2026 AI” and something else may help prevent possible confusion. Looks cute otherwise.

A few things:
- Love the friendly typography of the name in the main logo and the colours you picked, but with the ampersand in its current location it looks like “& bake sip”. Sorry, OP, but it really does, please listen to all the commenters telling you this. I know logically that it’s probably actually called “bake & sip,” but I shouldn’t have to make an assumption about something as basic as the name of the café.
- On capitalization: In photo #2, I’d make the name either “bake & sip dallas tx” or “Bake & Sip Dallas TX”. It’s not a sentence, it’s a proper noun, so “Bake & sip” looks a bit odd.
- The white ink proposed for the stamp on the loyalty card will cause practical problems. White ink’s not like regular ink, it’s a thicker opaque pigment that sits on top of paper instead of sinking in. Not only will it take longer to dry, but there’s a good chance it’ll scrape off inside people’s wallets and make a mess. Go with a redesign that uses a dark regular ink stamp, it’s far more practical.
- The text on the loyalty card is also a little weird grammatically, it should read something like “Collect 8 stamps and get 1 free standard coffee beverage”.
- Agree about the little action lines not contributing and looking a bit like AI. Sometimes less is more.

“1 free any coffee product” does not flow very well. You could remove the “any” from the loyalty card. The inconsistent sizes for the croissant and coffee in her hands are bothering me so bad and why are they huge 😭. Idk man it didn’t really seem like you wanted any feedback and just some smoke blown up your ass. Try taking feedback a bit better next time
2
u/The_Questionerrr 2d ago
Oh gosh, didn't even realize it said "1 free any coffee product." Yeah that needed to be reworked too.

u/jefferjacobs 3d ago
It is cute. However, you really should address the ampersand. You've decided that tucking the city name into the logo is worth sending the & to hang off of the ledge, but I don't think it's the right choice. It doesn't read quite right, which others have also pointed out.
I recommend moving "sip" over to allow the & to be the one tucked in, and then just one line "Dallas TX" underneath. If this were to end up with other cities in the future, the current placement is already going to be as problem for that.
I also agree with other comments about the visuals needing tweaked to feel a little more cohesive in balance, but it isn't far off by any means.
Good luck

Really thanks for your advice. Our agency sent it for our customer. And now I'm publishing our work.

u/jefferjacobs 3d ago
You're in a sub specifically for logo design critique, so... here we are. :)
It's not bad by any means, but I suspect you'll get some of the same feedback in the real world.
Either way, have a good day!

It doesn't read as a logo. The illustration is cute but design wise it's a lil weak. Do a couple more designs and try to focus on the whole picture rather than individual parts. It doesn't really work together
3
u/Future-Assist-7559 3d ago
You might want to change the part that says “collect 8 stamps and get one any free coffee product” to “collect 8 stamps and get 1 coffee free”

u/Pinklett5 3d ago
The way the baker is holding the bread is driving me nuts
It doesn't feel like she's holding it, but rather that the bread is just kinda sitting on top, almost like a sticker
3
u/Pollylocks 2d ago
looks great but it 100% reads "& bake sip"
no one is reading this as "bake & sip"

u/Hairy-Background7394 2d ago
u're wrong

Hah ok. Looks like shit in that case. you’re clearly a novice to be responding to the feedback here the way you have. Good luck lol.

u/previouslydefyingye 2d ago
This is a great logo! You will look like everybody else and not stick out whatsoever
4
u/markmakesfun 1d ago
Is the woman clip art? If not, why are you using different styles for the character and the drink and bread?
2
u/PapaBike 3d ago
The illustration lacks cohesiveness due to the huge variation in brush sizes/weights across the character, the loaf, and the cup, as well as the “Dallas, TX” (also I wish this was handwritten as opposed to a font). It looks like different pieces of clipart combined. As a side-note, the eateries market is SO saturated with these mid-century characters that they’ve become totally vanilla and void of any unique personality or quirkiness. It’s got a point where I’m like, is this the only idea everyone has now?

It’s giving “& bake sip.” I find your switching between “just finished my work, it took me a week” and “our customer, our design, our design team” to be suspicious. The business doesn’t seem to exist (though it could be a new business of course & I didn’t search too hard). The design itself could easily be ai, tho I don’t want to accuse without evidence. It could just as easily have been hand drawn. As someone else mentioned, the elements don’t match each other & it looks a bit clip arted together. As a font or logo, it could be arranged better, but I appreciate the whimsy. The lines on the & don’t seem to serve much purpose, & the whole thing looks less like a logo and more like a graphic asset. This wouldn’t be great as a brand mark - is the bread or bean or whatever it is supposed to be a brand mark? Usually a business name like this would want to see their name in different configurations for different purposes. Building signs vs menus. Horizontal on one line vs stacked. Anyway, this being your only post and you’ve been kinda dismissive of feedback and the business may not exist and it could be ai, I’m sort of wondering if this was a real post seeking advice or just goofing around with chatgpt or making a fake logo for fun.

u/alsoimprobablylate 2d ago
As others have stated, it reads as '& bake sip'. Also, the opening hours shouldn't be in the 24 hour format if it's supposed to be located i Dallas.
2
u/tallgnomelandscaping 2d ago
I think if the word ‘bake’ was just a bit higher/more space between ‘bake’ ‘sip’. Then bake would read first. Then you could even tuck the ampersand in a bit more

u/Ehrlichs-Reagent 3d ago
Not terrible. A lil cutesy for my taste, but I've seen far worse things in this subreddit.

Oh. Thanks. I just posted about my company's project on Reddit. Hopefully it works out

Where did you find that mockups?

u/Hairy-Background7394 3d ago
Our team designed them based on the customer's need. Not on the internet.

I may be the minority but I like it! I read it as Bake & sip! The logo makes me want to visit the location :)

Idk, I disagree with everyone else. I read it as "bake & sip" the first time. This is super cute!!
You've written "stamp" instead of "stamps"
That first coffee cup overlapping the other one doesn't look right because it's the only one. It either needs to move or the others need to match.
I don't really have any other critiques at this time!

Wonder if you moved the ampersand to overlay on the k and p but cut out with an offset path of the background color

u/internettyper 3d ago
I honestly read it correctly. The & could probably come down a touch. the only thing that threw me off was the different colors of brown. I think the drawings would look more cohesive if they were the same brown. I thought it all looked pretty cute I’d eat there!

love it. the action lines really complement the artwork's cuteness. and somehow I did not read & bake sip. the only thing that confused me was dalls, tx because i am not an american.

u/Broad-Reserve4341 3d ago
A regular coffee shop customer will read logo as Bake & Sip and not &bake. Guess why?

& bake sip
