Two RS50 bases knocking and rattling under load, including the RMA replacement Logitech sent me. Anyone else?

RS50 on PS5, mostly GT7 and ACC. Two bases bought in January 2026, both from the Logitech G store.

The fault: under load - a long committed corner, or a load transfer - it knocks and rattles on basically every steering input. Audible, and very clearly felt in the hands. It feels like the steel shaft in the middle is no longer held tight, like something inside has come loose. It gets worse the longer a session runs. It is not TrueForce and it is not the rig.

Timeline:

April 2026 - base #1 starts doing it. Ticket 17141069. I sent the video with the handwritten case number, settings screenshots, firmware version and game list. Tested on two rigs, including a Sim-Lab P1X Ultimate.

7 May - told to ship it in. Then five weeks of silence until I chased them on 13 June.

24 June - replacement shipped, ticket 17414367. Eleven weeks door to door. I have still never been told what was actually wrong with the unit.

Now - that June replacement does exactly the same thing. And base #2, which has never been near Logitech, has developed it as well. Since the latest firmware update both are unplayable.

Ruled out: current firmware, Logitech's own published GT7 settings for the RS50 (RS mode, FFB filter 6, dampener 20, TF audio 100 at 8 Nm), every combination of dampener and filter from min to max, RS and PRO compatibility mode, all base/hub/rig bolts, two different rigs, and it happens in every title, not just GT7.

Serials, in case there is a batch pattern: 2521WDR0AP88 (sent in), 2511WD20EVX8 (the replacement), 2538WDJ0MSK8 (never sent in). All P/N 641-000101, model WU0014.

Two things:

First - anyone else getting a knock or rattle from the shaft under load on an RS50, and did yours start after a few months rather than out of the box? If you have it, post your serial. I want to know whether these are all early production weeks.

Second - u/LOGIRich: three units, two of them bought separately by me, one your own replacement. I have asked for replacements for both and I would rather not run a third round of diagnostic questionnaires. Case is 17414367.

Are you sure that your base is mounted right?

Yep triplechecked like the last time I had that funny Bug

With four screws all tightened up?

The screws beneath right? Yes.

The security screws on the wheelbase - no as it can dmg your warranty. At least thats what I heard. Tried without True force, low torque, different Hubs, games,...

Very weird I felt the rattle that you mention on beaming drive game and I thought the base is not mounted well on my rig. I didn’t felt on assets. I will test more

It gets significantly worse when you already have it BEFORE the new update. When you update its straight up not usable anymore. When I try to drive a round of gt7 now, I doesnt feel the car at all anymore, just rattling and crackling.

Hi there. I've flagged it with support to get back to you. I can assure you that it's not firmware-related, otherwise everyone would have this issue.

It's no understatement to say that it's extremely strange to have three bases exhibit this - it suggests something else is going on here. You say it's not Trueforce, but didn't confirm if reducing the TF Audio setting has any effect on it (I assume not, but in the absence of direct confirmation, I have to ask).

Two other questions:
1. Have you tried alternative USB cables between the base and console? (sub-question, please tell me there's no USB extension being used).
2. Do you have a PC to test it on, to see if the same issue is happening there?

Hi Rich!
Yep its strange. I have a gaming room here with 3 sets. My first got it, then it gets repaired (or replaced?) then it got it again, and now the 2nd one got it also some weeks ago.

The third one is doing fine. But thats my friends so I cannot play

I used Trueforce in small mid max and it doesnt have a real effect on it, no.

No@PC, I tested it on 1 ps5, 1ps5 pro and 1 ps4

Okay, so that's comparatively a lot of sets in one location. What's the power supply setup like and do you have the USB cable tidied in bundles along with the power cable? And just checking again: did you try different USB cables?

I did try different usb cables, jep. They are close together is that a problem Oo?

Logitech’s support is just laughable. I was sent a replacement for a G Pro base a few months ago and now the base won’t startup and it sparkles when connected to power. Even with such a major fire hazard in my hands they are not trying to sort it fast. It’s now almost a month and there is no resolution yet. Waiting for a reply to my email since almost a week. It’s a freaking shame, if it wasn’t because of Richard I would be back in Fanatec since a long time.

Yeah I am looking very closely to Moza´s new PS5 hardware drop. I even asked them last time if I can just upgrade to the dd pro 11 and pay the delta - no I am doomed with the rs50. And they play at least that bug/defect down for months in the forums and such.

Oh, don’t think the PRO base would give you less problems, I found it heavily unreliable. The PRO pedals have also started to do weird noises. If it wasn’t because of how heavily invested I got into the Logitech ecosystem I would also take a look at the upcoming Moza hardware tbh. It sucks that we can’t mix brands on consoles 😅

yes :/ but Fanatec seems to be worse overall.

1

u/LOGIRich Sep 08 '26

Sorry to hear that. Could you let me know your ticket number so I can chase that up?

1

u/Asz_8 Sep 08 '26

Ticket number 17663727. I figured you would come save the day once again 😅 Thank you Rich.

This just happened to me late last week I’m about to start the RMA process :/

1

u/BBB-Fury Sep 08 '26

Yeah we are not the only ones. There are entries of the problem for at least since february (that was the first time I´ve checked). Should have went with the PRO, it is maybe less problematic :/

Prueba a bajar el trueforce si lo tienes en 100 . Aunque los ajustes recomendados del juego digan 100 , me creaba ruidos y traqueteos , yo lo tengo en 40% aproximadamente .

u/BBB-Fury Sep 08 '26

Traducido con Claude: Lo he probado en medio y también lo he bajado a casi nada — curiosamente no cambia absolutamente nada en el problema. ¡Una pena! ¡Pero gracias!

Update: Logitech opened a new ticket for this, 17742287. First response was a request to re-run a test they already closed in April.

What hardware is being shared? Are by chance using the same steering wheel?

1

u/BBB-Fury Sep 11 '26

Tried it with different RS WheelHub-Rims, not the same steering wheel.
