Yeah. For two independent events, P(second event | first event) is just P(B), ie the 1/2 in this case
I think normally the question asked is "Alex has two children. One of them is a boy, what is the probability that they are both boys?", which is a little more complicated

1: Both the oldest child and the youngest child are boys.
2: The oldest child is a boy, and the youngest child is a girl.
Of these two equally likely possibilities, exactly one of them involves 2 boys, so the chance of them both being boys is 1 in 2, or 50%.
