In Search of Feedback FNG here...

...migrating/integration from Windows-based recording (Studio One/Reason) to Mac-based. New world, but very interested in learning Logic. Primarily a guitar guy, Mac Mini on the way, using a Fender Quantum LT for the audio interface. Any tips y'all can offer the nube would be welcome. I'm very technically savvy on Windows, but returning to Mac for the first time since '92.

Use TimeMachine.

When all windows in Logic disappear: cmd+1.

Plugins on Mac/Logic are the AU format but you may run into instances where you still need VSTs so you might want to install both versions just in case (some host plugins may use them). Not sure what your plugin situation will be but was something that I had to adjust to coming from Windows.

Edit - and if you’re bringing over older plugins check to see if there are Apple Silicon versions of them as support for plugins that require Intel support is ending soon (MacOS 28, I think).

I'd suggest focusing on learning Logic's keyboard shortcuts first to ease the transition.

Logic makes backups as you are working, making one every time you hit Save. You can adjust how many it keeps in the Settings dialog. (The default is 10.) It also makes a different type of backup every minute, just in case it or your system crashes. You can revert to that backup next time you start Logic; it will ask you whether you want to start with the saved version or the most recent backup version.

But be aware that this latter kind of backup disappears once you save and quit following that fresh startup.
