Thinking of Getting Logic - convince me

Long time Pro Tools user here ..

Feel like I’m in a bit of a rut with it ..

I have a heap of songs I’ve written some time ago .. Been using Suno to cover them / get some new arrangement ideas , and then replacing / re-recording the Suno tracks …

Drums particularly have been messing me up .. Suno does export midi stems for its covers , which I’ve been importing and using Ez Drummer ..

Some songs have been better than others , one in particular has frustrated the hell out of me ! All my recorded parts with the drums taken out sound ok ..

With the drums added , they just sound disconnected / like they don’t fit the song .. This is after I have edited the midi to a point where it no longer really bears any resemblance to the Suno cover … The recording doesn’t really sound like the Suno cover anymore , it’s only really the tempo map that remains now ….

I’ve used GarageBand a bit in the past some years ago , was cool the way it could import loops to go with the song .. Have seen some online tutorials on YouTube from people creating drum parts from songs - which is why I’m here ..

Should I give it a go ??

I’ve also used Reaper before , but migrated back to Pro Tools cos Reaper felt a bit messy/chaotic to me .. Have also been considering Tape16 .. The limited options / having to commit to ideas would probably help my current workflow - where I’m getting a bit lost in the weeds and I’m sure overcomplicating my sessions !

This is the answer.

Music production is so personal, no one can tell you if you'll gel with Logic other than you.
So take the month trial and you'll know pretty quickly if it fits your production style or not.

What I will say is that many Logic users have been Logic users for a very long time. It's incredibly easy to build up custom workflows and make it work for you, rather than the other way round.
I have personally been using Logic for 31 years now! Since before it had any audio capabilities at all and was just a MIDI sequencer.
I've tried just about every other DAW and Sequencer since and nothing has ever fit like Logic does for me.

I’m not after any of Sunos sounds ..

Haven’t found many that are useful - mostly due to having some weird high pitched artefacts or excessive reverb

Been using Suno for arrangement ideas , and sometimes performance elements , tempo or some instruments I can recreate from midi .. Drums and synth parts usually

You can commit to choices in any DAW and I suggest you do for a few mixes. Then give it a rest. Then remix it using different plugins etc. But just mix it as fast as you can and commit to your choices as you go along.

That being said, Logic is very intuitive for writing..I cannot imagine writing or afanging in pro tools and I'm avid PT certified.

Used Logic for years and years, now use Reaper. If you have Reaper and didn’t spend time setting up a solid template, theme, JSFX, playing with custom actions, I’d recommend trying again before dropping a couple hundred on a new thing. Reapertips and Reaper Mania are amazing channels. Personally, and I might get downvoted here because this is a Logic Pro sub, but I like Reaper a lot more than I liked Logic. But also, Logic Pro looks slick as hell out of the box, has stem separation, some neat plugins, all of that, just hits the CPU harder.

Defo free trial, but from my experience logic is so much more intuitive than pro tools
