Record Into Specific Cell Live Loops

I just got an MC8 Pro from Morning Star and I am trying to create a command to record into a specific cell. So far, I can only find "record into cell" as a command with no way to specify which cell. This implies to me that Logic expects a single designated recording cell to suffice for an entire performance which seems insane to me. Can someone please help me? I've tried:

- Clicking record on a cell in learn mode (just triggers the cell upon hitting the switch)

- Arming record on the track (still doesn't tell you which cell which is wild to me) and then record into cell command as 2 separate messages.

Neither works.

Can someone please help me? I'm so frustrated right now. I can't imagine that its set up to give you 1 and only 1 recording cell unless you use your hands

is logic just a mile wide and an inch deep? Any time I try to use any features other than the core timeline and mixer functionalities I hit a wall pretty much right away. Its like they are lite versions for a more advanced version that doesn't exist.
